Yeah but they arent just going to sit back and relax while they do it, take time off here and there. They have schedules and deadlines they need to meet. They can take a bit more time but not to much before it becomes wasteful of money and manpower.

but not as much money is going toward getting it done quickly.

You can only go so quickly before you begin to sacrifice quality and safety. No matter how fast you need them, certain things take a certain amount of time to do in any situation.

think about the victory ships in WW2. they were completing some of those hulls in about 24 hours. but then there was the danger of them cracking in half. during wartime you don't build things to last. fast and cheap. during peacetime you have to worry about it running well untill it is replaced. which usually is a long time.

Notes...

The Axius base has been around for years and years -- it was a black projects base during the war.

It takes five years to build a carrier -- the exception is the Vesuvius class, which (rather than have a shipyard) make use of foundry ships... the reason Mistral Sea came online so quickly is because many carriers are laid down in secession -- so you start building Midways in 2676, and they come online in routine intervals over the next five years.

The ten Midway class ships are...

MIDWAY
MISTRAL SEA
TAFANDA BEY
CORAL SEA
JUTLAND
PTOLOMAN’S RIFT
ENYO III
BATAAN
TRIPOLI
PORT BROUGHTON

So, they're *not* all named after WW2 battles. (But then, 'Mistral Sea' should have indicated that...)

Yeah, Hitler did screw up a lot. Its a shame the General's couldn't stand up more to him. They seemed to be quite capable in the field.

What were the other two stuff ups Professor?

Invading Russia and declaring war on the US. :D

Even if you're not versed in WW2 battles, you'd still have to recognize that the TCS Mistral Sea is named after where the Concordia went down in WCIII... <G>

Captain Johnny sent me the other eight names.

Actually, invading Russia is one, and probably the biggest one. First, he opened a two-front war, never a good thing. Then some unknown reason, he failed to take the Russian winter into consideration, and launched the attack in the fall.

The second commonly acknowledged major error was switching from bombing the RAF fields, to cities, during the Battle of Britain. Britain wasn't doing well, truth be known, and it was really only a matter of time before Germany would make the RAF a non-factor through simple attrition. However, by switching to attacking cities, Hitler gave the RAF time to recover and regroup.

Well, Hitler DID declare war on the U.S., but after what his ally Japan did, it was probably only a matter of time. Although, either way, most people acknowledge that Hitler was screwed. (And anyway, Japan wasn't much of an ally...but that's another story for another time).

Hitler's invasion of Russia has often been compared to the botched attack by Napolean (no, not THAT one). Some credit his haste to his expectations of easy victories, and his lack of developing a long-enough stick (i.e., a long-range bomber) to hit Russian supply factories.

And his mad air blitz on London is usually credited as retribution to the RAF's "accidental" bombing of Berlin, which sent Hitler into a mad fury. And you did NOT want to stand up to the Fuerer while he was in a mad fury. Ouch.

The majority of the WW2 battles was in Russia.
Hitler could have won the war, or extended it some 10 years or more if he did´t invaded Russia.

There was nothing "accidental" about it.:D It was deliberately launched after a German bomber dumped its bombs on London instead of the docks. It's interesting to speculate if the Brits knew that it would provoke the Germans into switching their attack to the cities, (which would make it a tactically smart if utterly ruthless move) but it certainly was a god-send for the RAF.
