Any thoughts on New ships for UE2

So, any ideas for new ships to at least to go into development?Possibly have a new one come in at the end of this episode that had already been started shortly after the Rapier IV got started. This one would of course not have been in testing by the time of UE.

Well I have no clue what that minimun means because they have min.s all the time being above 0 like 180 for the Panther BL. Change min. to 165.
 
If there's a listed minimum, it's the fasted speed a ship can go with minimum power given to engines.
 
Anybody have the stats for the viper version of the Scim. I would like to know its weapon energy stats. Fully charged and min, std, and max recharge rates.
 
What nobody have any ideas for ships. It doesn't have to be complete, it could just be like name and classification with a few weapon stats or a basic description. I really curious what other people can come up with. These designs could be used for other mods to this genre-like UE3 or something like that.
 
Well, there has been more than a few threads about UE2 ships already, so you may want to look through the archive :p. Just keep in mind, this is another area of UE2 for which we have the basics worked out (for some new ships, there's even models, courtesy of Eder), and the final stats, of course, are not gonna happen until the missions start happening. So, while we very, very much welcome discussions here, don't get too upset if we don't take your ideas into account later ;).
 
I'd rather stick with the nostalga trip. Very few new designs come out in peace time. Thats what makes WCP so odd.
 
It's not exactly peace time, now is it? And it almost seems as if Confed were preparing for this by creating these new designs capable of destroy this new threat.
 
Here's a new design. My design is better then yours :eek: It will be Confed's newest space superiority fighter.

It's called, the F-14 Tomcat. It is a space-borne fighter-interceptor that is designed to take any other existing Confed fighter and kick its ass. It can go twice as fast as a Vampire fighter, due to its ultra-k00l fusion engines and the wings that can sweep back for greater speed.

Weaponry includes a 6-barreled gatling-tachyon cannon (new design too! There isn't one in WC yet, so let's make one!!!!!!) mounted underneath the chin, along with 4 AIM-54X "Phoenix" Long Range ImRec missiles (a new WC design too!), 2 AIM-120X Advanced Space Range Air to Air Missile (acronym "ASRAAM", pronounced "ass-ram"), and two good ol' reliable Javelin heat seekers.

Seriously, though, it has been pretty much established that the Rapier IV and the Vindicator will be seen in UE2. The Rapier IV is the medium-heavy fighter and I would expect it to have something like:

Max speed: 450 kps
Max Afterburner: 1300 kps
Turn Rate Y/P/R: 80/80/80 dps
Rotational Acceleration: 200 d/s^2
Shields: 240/240
Armor F/A/L/R: 160/160/140/140
Guns: 2 Ion/2 Particle (stronger than Rapier 2 but weaker than Panther)
Missiles: 4 DF/4 HS/4 FF
Decoys: 36

Basically, the Rapier IV is supposed to be somewhere between the Tigershark and the Panther in power.

The Vindicator will be taking the light bomber role, and would be pretty much like the WC4 Vindicator but with a few extra anti-fighter missiles added. We may also see the Bearcat used as an interceptor, but that still leaves the light fighter and heavy bomber slots open. The Epee as used in UE1 had decent attack power, but was just too fragile for prolonged fights--it needs more missile decoys and about 40-60 more armor to be viable. Alternatively, the Ferret could be given autoslide and an extra pair of missiles and be used instead--nothing can catch the Ferret at its afterburner speed of 1800 kps! As for heavy bombers, there was an upgraded Avenger in UE1, but it may be a bit overkill, whereas a straight WC4 Avenger is a bit low on the maneuverability. That leaves us with either an Avenger with lesser upgrades, an upgraded Longbow (the UBW was buying Longbows from Confed in UE1 since Confed was switching to the Shrikes), an upgraded Broadsword, or a totally new bomber.

Yeah. I am a bit nostalgic for flying in a longbow again-and those are not the orginal stats in the edit. Yeah chnages for the BW version are needed. Hey what about turrets- are their any turrets.

That would depend on your definition of 'will' :). Nothing has yet been decided about the role of the Vindicator, and it is always possible (though, in the case of the Vindicator, not really likely) that we'll decide to limit its involvement to cutscenes or remove it altogether.

I am pretty sure that the Bearcat will remain in its current non-role as a cutscene fighter and maybe as a sim ship. Same for the Avenger, except that the stripped-down version will continue to appear as S&R.

You can forget about the Longbow altogether, sorry :p. We said that the BW bought some, but that doesn't mean that we'll see them. There may be an entirely new bomber, although whether it will be a new ship or merely a new model that claims to be an old ship won't be decided until (if) we have a model.
 
Need help on some design concepts for a new bomber: descriptions and stats? Oh, and what about the other questions at the thread: "help with tutorial"?
