IIRC, the Army is that only US branch that still employs warrent officers. Warrent Officers are not Commission through the Academy, ROTC or OCS. However, they are of higher rank that any enlisted. The Army uses them mostly to fly helicopters.

That is probably the case for WC I/II, but why are the Dralthi IV, Vaktoth and the Fralthi II of WC III/IV/P vintage still symetrical?

I don't believe that Hawk ever had command of even a squadron. He was a BW Colonel that was on the Midway on a cross over program. Any other Colonel could have been commanding a wing somewhere. I am not sure, but I believe that he was a full Colonel, but I could be wrong.

Does the numbering system for carriers reset as a new class comes online? Is there a #1 for each class that has a hull number of 01, or does the hull number reflect the number that the carrier is in the whole carrier picture?
