Wich are the different races in WC

That's exactly why :). They're not interested in scientific development, but somebody has to invent them new weapons ;).
 
No... first slave R&D... then they pass it along to the slave laborours for manufacturing. Then they can install cards backwards so that torpedos look the same if X-Rayed, but they don't detonate and blow-up Concordias.

By the way, everyone, I was speaking to Mr Steltek and he said he was enjoying his holiday in Gemini and plans to visit a pleasure planet or two.

He seems interested in a woman wearing pewter planets as earings....
 
There are plenty of races out there for the Kilrathi to enslave -- they'd decided to wipe us out entirely.

(The Kilrathi *do* have scientists, though... one of them defects in Wing Commander Academy).

And according to Fleet Action the Kilrathi were the first using torpedoes which can slip through energy shields! It doesn't really matter if they invented it themselves or stole it from another race, the fact is that they used it and that they nearly destroyed McAuliffe with it.
 
It DOES matter that they stole it from someone else. They got the technology from a defeated race and had them built by slaves. The only credit the cats deserve for using a torpedo is for having a weapon sitting in their laps and deciding to use it.
 
And they did use them rather strategically when they attacked... I mean... up until Turner turned the 'fleet' around the Kilrathi had kicked some ass.

No it doesn't. It doesn't matter if you develop something for youselves or steal it. You still HAVE it either way.
 
LadiesMan is quite correct. It all depends on how you utilize the resources given to you, stolen or otherwise.
A rose is a rose is a rose, even if you did take it from the neighbor's garden, your girlfriend will still love it.
