Thrakkath's Luck

he wouldn't have fit...

would he?

After The Joker in the Animated Series, I could almost see it. He'd probably have had a REALLY fun time, especially with no beard and a wild look in his eyes.

Mark Hamill was, IIRC, originally considered for the Maniac role.

Well, if you compare Maniac and Blair from WC1 to Luke Skywalker it doesn't seem so crazy. And Blair... er... Hamill can do whacky charachters, like the Trickster (on The Flash), the joker, and the guy on "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back".

But now Hamill is Blair - 3 games, 2 novel covers, and 1 card game! (more stuff?)

I hated him in "Hamilton" though. That was about the worst cliche of a villain I have ever seen.

Big Red 1 rules, however.

I saw segments of Hamilton. It was pretty good. Hamill did with the roll what he could. He's a much better villian actor than playing the straight-up hero type.

Hamill would've made a wonderful Maniac. It's closer to his actual personality.

There was another war movie with Wc people on it, the one where Petranca (casey form WCP) is shot by own his seargent when he decided to run away with a freaking FLAMETHROWER attached to his back. He took a long and painfull time to die.

And isn't Pliers in the "Grounded for Life" sitcom?

I heard that chick who played Rachel has been in a lot of other productions. :p

Mark Hamill as Maniac instead of Blair? Hm...yeah, it probably could have worked, though I really can't see anyone else but Tom Wilson in that role now. Who do you think would have made a good Blair had Hamill gotten the Maniac part?

Maybe it was me, but I always thought Jim Carrey would have been a good Maniac had they wanted to adhere to the lean, trim WC1 character instead of a big stocky guy like Tom Wilson.

Argh, my last post is in the WRONG thread. Bummer.
Concerning THIS subject, I think Hamill looks a lot more like wc1 Maniac than wc1 Blair. He could have done a great Maniac (one who's more crazy than egomaniac), and maybe Charlie Sheen could have been Blair.

"Time to ride the crazy chair!"

Yes, Ginger Allen has been in a lot of other stuff. She's done several television roles, but she's primarily known for her exploits as an adult film actress under the name 'Ginger Lynn'

Charlie Sheen did have a real romance with Ginger Lynn. And both of used heavy stuff. Well, some parts of WC3 would be that much more realistic.

Ginger Lynn is a pretty smart cookie, from what I've seen in interviews. I mean, she won't be winning the Nobel prize anytime soon, but shes pretty sharp.

Incidentally, Ginger Lynn's out of the porn business again. Retired last year or something, according to IMDB.

No it didn't.

Anyway, back to the original thread. The Kilrathi only learn of Blair being aboard the Victory after the "masked jump point" nebula missions, so it was just a (un)happy accident thay Hobbes was aboard. Of course, that assumes the whole identity overlay storyline which I think is bogus. If Tolwyn hadn't sent Blair then later the Behemoth to a run down antique carrier, chances are it might've worked.

Plus, I think the only T-bomb had the unstable planet limitation. The Behemoth looked like it could tear apart damn near anything short of a star.

Anything at the end of the target is destroyed. But it requires something to stand still while it primes the weapon.

I just would love to play the Behemoth Kilrah mission as the WC3 script tells (I guess that the Origin programmers didn't do in that way because the computers wasn't enough powerful for that time...):

WC3 Script said:
Mission K3 begins with the Victory jumping out into a minefield. A huge Kilrathi fleet is waiting, and attacks. It’s battle royale. But despite everyone’s best efforts, the Kilrathi succeed in hitting one or more of the Behemoth’s “soft spots” and the weapon is destroyed before it can get off a shot:

K3 MIDGAME: THE BEHEMOTH DESTRUCTS -> 12BEDES

THE KILRATHI FIGHTERS DIVE DOWN AT THE BEHEMOTH: THIS SEEMS TO BE A HIGHLY-PLANNED MANEUVER, AS IF THEY KNOW WHERE THE “WEAK SPOTS” ARE IN THE BEHEMOTH’S DEFENSE SYSTEMS.

THE KILRATHI CONTINUE TO STORM IN: THEIR FORCE IS OVERWHELMING - -

THEY UNLOAD ON THE BEHEMOTH WITH EVERYTHING THEY’VE GOT.

MEANWHILE, CONFEDERATION SHIPS FLEE THE AREA, AND MANY SHIPS EXIT FROM THE BEHEMOTH’S BARREL.

SMALL EXPLOSIONS START ALONG THE BEHEMOTH’S FLANKS - -

THEN THE ENTIRE, MASSIVE BEHEMOTH DEVICE EXPLODES . . . TAKING OUT SEVERAL CONFEDERATION SHIPS AROUND IT - - INCLUDING A COUPLE OF CAPITAL SHIPS.

THE DESTRUCTION IS BREATHTAKINGLY FINAL . . .

THE KILRATHI PEEL OFF, THEIR MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. CONFEDERATION FORCES, IN DISARRAY, GIVE ONLY HALF-HEARTED PURSUIT . . .

CUT TO:

BLAIR’S COCKPIT - -

WHICH IS REELING AND SPINNING FROM THE FORCE OF THE EXPLOSION . . .

SCREENS SHOW WRECKAGE CONTINUING TO HURTLE OUT IN ALL DIRECTIONS . . .

MEANWHILE, KILRATHI TAUNTS SPEW FROM EVERY COMM CHANNEL . . . THEIR LAUGHTER HAS NEVER BEEN MORE HARSH OR DEMONIC . . .

AS BLAIR REGAINS CONTROL OF HIS FIGHTER, A NEW, DISTINCT KILRATHI VOICE SUDDENLY COMES OVER THE COMM . . .

THRAKHATH (V.O.)
The Heart of the Tiger has failed his race . . . He has failed himself . . . He has failed the human he knows as Devereaux . . . Angel . . . his lair-mate . . .

The rest is just as the game, except that Victory have to jump out of Kilrah immediatly, and gives Blair 90 seconds to return.

As it can be seen in the script, the real mission start when the Victory and a great confed fleet of capital ships (not just the Victory convoy of destroyers) jump into the Kilrah system. But there, the Kilrathi prepared the biggest ambush of the war. When the Behemoth explodes, several ships and capital ships are taken out with the explosion, and every confed ship put his efforts in getting out of that hell.

It looks like that would have been a great battle, but well... for the time of WC3, there was no computers/consoles with enough proccesing power to handle such a battle, so I guess that Origin put the destruction of Behemoth in Loki and not in Kilrah, but if you look carefully the video of the briefing of the Behemoth Kilrah mission you can notify these two things:

1. There was a huge confed fleet of fighters and capital ships escorting it.
2. "We are about to hit the jump point", it is suposed that you will start your mission just when the Victory finish his jump and get into Kilrah system.

Wouldn't it be so nice a remake of this mission? ^^
