The Art of Wing Commander Arena - Part Two (September 28, 2007)

Bandit LOAF

Long Live the Confederation!
The initial concept for Wing Commander Arena had the designers creating an entirely new set of Wing Commander-style ships... and this was what they came up for the Kilrathi! It's sort of a cross between a Dralthi and a pulpy World War 2 jet airplane. Check out the Imperial logos on the twin tails!

This is part of a series of beautiful Wing Commander Arena concept images graciously provided by Gaia Industries. You can find the original article here. You can thank the guys at Gaia by picking up Street Trace NYC on Xbox Live Arcade!

Since you're releasing this "art," will 3D models become available too? I can't really wait until that happens. When it does, I'm gonna have lots of fun modding WC: Saga with Arena models.

I actually really like this design - the large "screaming maw" on the front is really cool (even if it is a but "oversized")

I had to throw together my own tribute for this proud fighter that almost was.

Damn you're good. I was sitting on the fence about this concept, but your rendition makes it look utterly badass. Now I'm sad that they didn't use this design.

I think it looks like an Ekapshi with a big mouth. I like it. Smooth yet maintains the Kilrathi claw-like sharpness.

Loving your art Ninja. Looks like it houses a mean array of blasters there. Can imagine it with a couple of WC3 Mesons and a couple of Light Plasma cannons for the evil blaster sounds! Love the cockpit look too, almost Kilrathi face like. Great work.

Rawr!

Very nice work, I mistook it for another official Gaia concept art at first glance (...and second glance). It does vaguely remind me of something (that isn't a Ekapshi or a Kilrathi fighter), but I can't quite place what. The Shrike cockpit is nifty.
