Wasn't the WC3 part of Kilrathi Saga just some kind of "conversion pack" which you fed your DOS WC3 CDs to?

No, it wasn't. Kilrathi Saga was five discs - Windows versions of WC1/2 on disc 1 and Windows versions of WC3 on discs 2-5 (which would be another change... I don't recall the game mistakenly telling you to insert the wrong numbered disc, even though disc numbering changed).

Ah, maybe. I can't recall what the list of technical changes were. So, are we really comparing experiences between the DOS and Kilrathi Saga versions, here?

It sounds like we're all comparing fuzzy memories of things that may have been different between the versions.
