SO1 Anti-matter Terror

Starkey

Avenging Rooster
What´s the best strategy to take out those Fralthra at the end of SO1? After I take out the Gothris, those capships make barbecue out of my 3 wingmen and then I have a very hard time trying to take them out. If those crazy AMGs weren´t enough for my paper-armor Sabre, their flak cannons blow up 3 out of 4 torpedoes I fire.

Where are you launching? In a sabre, afterburn towards the target until you reach 8000 klicks out, then deccelerate. When you reach 3000 klicks, fire the torpedo and pull up hard on burners.

Cap-Ship Killer cake
Ingredents:
Torpedos (2 per cap ship)
Escort fighers/Dogfighting skill.

Preperation:
1. Let your escorts clear local space of enemy fighters, or do it yourself...
2. Get to about 10000 clicks, on target ship's rear aspect, out of AAA range.
3. Wait for a torpedo lock-on

4. In case of flying a torpedo bomber (CrossBow, BroadSword ):
A. move to about 8000 clicks, INTO AAA range (so the ships will fire at you and not at your torpedos).
B. Make sure the torpedos route is clear of flak rounds (so it won't fly into one) and fire.
C. Wait until impact is verified.
D. Exit AAA range and recharge sheilds.
E. Repeat 1-3 and 4A-4D once again for target ship
F. Repeat 1-3 and 4A-4E for each additional cap ship in area.

5. In case of flying a attack fighter (Sabre, MorningStar ):
A. Go to flank speed.
B. After Burn to 3000-2000 clicks.
C. Make sure the torpedos route is clear of flak rounds (so it wont fly into one) and fire.
D. Turn away eradicly to avoid AAA impacts, wait until impact is verified.
D. After burn out of AAA range and recharge sheilds.
E. Repeat 1-3 and 5A-5D one again for target ship
F. Repeat 1-3 and 5A-5E for each additional cap ship in area.

6. Enjoy Red-Orange-Yellow blosem. :D

Warning - might includ cat wisckers, demostrate coation while eating.

:D What´s AAA?
And about #2, I can´t target the Fralthra´s "rear aspects", because she always turns towards me.

I have a question. I remeber I tried to put one Fraltha in the way of the second one, so they would shoot it other. Even when they did that, no matter how many AMGs,, they would not get damaged. Can they damage each other or this is wrong?

Probably the ships are tagged so their own weapons fire can't damage themself, in case anyone wanted to try and pull off a 'deneb'...

That mission drove me even more nuts than I am naturally. The first time I thought that I had it beat, before I could deliver the final torpedo my targeting computer crapped out and there was no way for me to get a lock. My kingdom for a Broadsword!

Nope.
You won't be doging these AMG bolts in a Broadsword.

In WC2, after you are teamed with Doomsday, just before you move to Rapiers, your are sent, alone, to the Talbot system to collect a data pod. after jumping you find your self mixed up with 6 Sartha and a Ralgha. Killing the Sarthas is a cake wake, but the Ralgha keep turning toward you and blast at you with her AMG's. you have to get near the pod, tractor it, an get the hell out.

It can get REALLY ugly!

Ralatha-class destroyer is what he means. Anyway, I didn't find that very difficult at all, dunno why, but the AM bolts never touched me, and the broadsword can at least tank a couple - if they did hit me I didn't notice before I torped the bugger, and it's not Sartha at that nav point - it's Strakhas, which makes life nicer - they can't do jack to a Broadsword. :)

I ment the Ralatha off-course (silly me)...
Any way, I do remember the little buggers to be Sartha's, and I also remember htat one AMG shot is all it takes to take out my BroadSword,
Guess I'll need to check it again...

The fighters were indeed Sartha (just flew that mission yesterday when I was playing WC2 through again), and it's verified on the CIC's guide

And the Broadsword can take an AMG hit and keep going - if you got shot down from one hit, it's probable that you took some armor damage from the Sarthas.

A Broadsword can take out a swarm of Sarthas by just going to the rear turret and picking them off as they swing behind you. Launch all of your FF missiles to give them even more to think about. That way even if you take some damage, the front of the ship will be untouched and ready for the torpedo run.
