I am playing P1 again. I am disabling to voice during my dogfights by mistake. I remember the last time I play P1 a couple of years ago I did the samething. I don't remember how I am doing this and how to re-enable the voice feature. Please help. Thanks.

Thanks, I've done that already. What I'm trying to figure is how I'm disabling it in the first place. I believe I remember Chris Reid giving me the anwser to this the last time I did thing.
Thanks.

On a sidenote, one thing I find quite fascinating about Priv is when you watch the intro with the speech disabled.

In the subtitles, the pirate keeps referring to you in third person neutral. "What is it, huh? Is it a smuggler, far off the normal space lanes?" ... "What is it that flies so good? Is it insane?"

If you watch it with speech enabled, you will only hear traces of this (I guess they decided to change the lines at some point). The "what is it" line is still the same.

And then of course there's Burrows' final line, in which he actually refers to himself in third person neutral - "No, it's just got a load of cargo on the hold, and a lot of bills to pay at home..."

Quite simple, actually. Burrows is a genderless alien who has come to scout our universe :D

I think he was using a semi famous line, the pirate... I know I've heard something similar elsewhere....

Maybe from the Hobbit.

"What is it, precious?" I can't remember more than that, something about is it a tasty morsel or something. Bollum talking, obviously. The pirate could just be well read on ancient literature.

The man was obviously conflicted over being a pirate. First, he dehumanizes his target (hence the "it"), next jumps to the conclusion the pilot is a smuggler (and thus deserving of an ill fate), and finally, when cornered and helpless, pleads that he's just trying to make a living too, ending: "You shouldn't kill me just for attacking you". Yes, clearly a confused, tortured soul. May he rest in peace.

Well, he could have been referring to the Tarsus at the start of the conversation, but... "what is it that flies so good"? "Is it insane"? :)

Nah... I can see it... he's thinking about the ship, so he uses 'it'. He's personifying the ship but not using the female gender that most would.

Are you all sure he is talking about the ship? Maybe he is talking about the person inside and perhaps doesn't know if its male or female? Maybe the Tarsus has some shitty commsystem that doesn't have video?

And I thought that psychoanalysis was quite fitting nemesis :)

My copy says "Who are you that flies so good? Are you insane?" Its the CD-ROM classic copy. I also have the floppy version with the speech pak and it says the same thing? What ver you runnin?

Wow they really got the signals crossed then! This is slightly off thread header, but going thru Privateer Rightious Fire last night, I ran into something that was so strange I thought the cats became merchants! There was a merchant flying around a nav point just outside of Troy, Penders Star to be exact, and there were a couple of pirates about, got rid of them, but then I noticed something extremely weird. The merchant was able to get one of the pirates, and they always say something after smoking an enemy like "Another dissatisfied customer" or something to that nature, anyway, that merchant was NOT in a regular merchant vessel! Belive it or not, she was in a Kilrathi fighter!! I wish my video camera was working cause I wanted to take some pics of it. She was flying a Dralthi!! And the craft was on friendly terms!! Now I am guessing that was just some glitch in the game but I have never seen that before! Another weird thing is the privateer himself. I am confused about his name. Some say its "Brownhair", some say its "Burrows", but in RF, Gov. Menesch calls him "Stimpleton". So what is his real name?
