Names

I am putting together a new homeworld mod for the wing commander universe. I am trying to think of what to name it.

I figure the time line for my mod will be between 2267 -2268.

Any ideas?

I don't want to use Fleet Action since that is already taken by the FAmod team.

FAmod team is wanting a more wc1-wc2 type mod. I am wanting a more wc3-wc4 type mod with some older ships since confed will still have some of the older ships around.
 
Why don't you work *with* them? I'm sure if you wanted to start a WC3 or 4 offshoot of it they'd be quite happy to help.
 
I would work with them, however, we both have different views on how the capital ships and fighters should be set-up. I do believe origin made one scale for the in-game FMV's and a different scale for the what the cic calls the offical size. Check out the in-game FMV's escort the transport ones in wing commander three to see what I mean. I want a scale for capitals and fighters that looks good. Capitals will be big and fighters will be small. Not both about the same size like in the cic stats.

I don't like how the FAmod team made it so you can destroy a big Super heavy Kilrathi carrier with just a few arrows. You need to use bombers with torps to take out caps because they are to big. Sure small fighter can take out turrets and stuff, however, the shields on wing commander caps are just to strong for the lightest type fighter to get thru.
 
Oh, also... the movie scale is what's listed on the CIC... The game scaling isn't the same in the engine of WC3 or 4, but the movies are right and, as far as I know, match up with what's in the manuals.
 
Loaf, maybe I got the date wrong or something. I don't have a handy dandy book from the original game. A manual if you will. So I may have posted a wrong date. I will check other links for the date of the kilrathi war.
 
Wait... why haven't I moved this over to fan projects yet?

Oh well, I'll soon fix that.
 
Yay! Another Wing Commander Homeworld Mod! good to see.

Let us know when its done, I'll certainly download it and try it out.

If you wanted to help us, you could have asked. We gladly need help and there will probabbly be more than 1 mod from us (but thats after the first one is done). The next one may be from the WC3-Prophecy era. I even drew up some designs for a HW:C WCFA mod.

BTW, if you read the shiplist, you will see that we are focused on the KILRATHI WAR era, NOT JUST WC1/2. The pirate races are from WC4 and Prophecy.

Kilrathi War Mod

First, to the moderators. All the posts here seem to be out of oder or something. Did any posts get deleted? Check out how relic set-up thier forums. It is much better.

Second, I do have a mod website. More of a development lounge for all team members to get together and discuss mod issues.

Third, mod has all the ships in every slot in homeworld. Only P chain unit slots to fill now. Play balancing and scaling will need to be done. Many units require textures. Working on that now.

The mod is for Homeworld and it is called "The Kilrathi War Mod".
Check out the website if any of you get a chance. I could always use new input from others.

This board puts the most recent posts on top and the older ones at the bottom. Whether or not it is a better or worse way of organizing threads is a matter of opinion.
 
cyber < i made the fleet action mod. arrows cant take out a cap ship. not even 50. you need that many just to slowly take out a transport. its almost totally torpedo dependant. unless 'newcommanderondablock' changed things after i left.

download the last version and see how it works.

if you want contact new commander and work with him. the mod isnt hard on going the way it is. if you work on it you will have creative input.

that and new commander isnt that fast with modelling. if you are any faster than him (which isnt that difficult) you will be able to railroad your ideas in anyways. just by making them yourself and putting them in.

so far the fighters are all wc3/4. and i did rip a few wc3 caps to put them in just for the heck of it. although i dont believe in ripping models. the wc models from long ago are too old. they need more detail, etc. so i was making everything original.
but whatever, something is better than nothing i guess.

go ahead and contact him. see what you can come up with.
