Firekkans

So, who thinks Confed should have abandoned the Firekkans when the Kilrathi were coming to slaughter them in their Sivar Eshrad ceremony? Should the Confederation ships at least made a stand to protect their allies, or did they have no choice but to run?

are you referring to SM-2? If so, isn't the whole game (or at least 2/3 of it) about STAYING and protecting the Firekkans? Correct me if I've misunderstood...

Not really... You fly around a while, encountering some light enemy resistance, pull out your diplomats, help the defecting Fralthi, escort some ships out of the system, go undercover to figure out what the hell's going on...

Once Confed knows there's a huge-assed fleet coming, they make an attempt to disrupt the ceremony and run like hell, basically leaving the Firekkans to fight off some really pissed off Kilrathi. The Firekkans get pretty beaten up, many die, and there are hostages taken when the Kilrathi leave (later rescued). See Freedom Flight for more details on SM2, from a different point of view.

oh, yeah, they should of called in more forces and defend their BRAND NEW allies, geeze... I'm on a mission right now where you're supposed to go around and kill as many fighters as you can, if you just skip all that and land back on the Tiger's Claw, will I still win? I don't know how good the programmers were :)

turn the planet into a radioactive ashball. lets see what the kilrathi do about that :D
if its not enough just melt the surface

for some reason, even BEFORE i ever played SM-2, I always viewed the Firekkans as birds, even though I had only seen the name on the WCP map, weird...

Actually... even though you were just making a Space Battles referance... you can do that to kilrathi fighters and capships if your ships shields regenerate faster.. just find a blindspot in their guns and ram them when your shields are at full... eventually they'll go down... hopefully...

no one answered my question about the kill all mission down there! I'm getting impatient... :)

In short, you do need to kill them.

You need a certain amount of victory points to pass WC1 and it's addon's missions. These victory points are gained by doing things like killing ships, saving things, and other mission objectives. You have to get some, or all of the available victory points to pass the mission, depending on how that mission's victory conditions are setup.

naturally you try to killem all and get your numbers on that chalkboard pretty high, although thats what i keep thinking :D

I've already got around 418 kills. I'm not sure really how to describe it, the mission before involved me and Angel going up in Dralthi's.

Ah...yes. My favorate tactic ^_^. Actually, I understand it's quite effective, especially if you can turn "Collisions Off" :D.

If you're flying a rapier and still with Angel, it doesn't look like there are any victory points to be gotten. So no, then you don't have to kill anyone on that mission really...
