Catching Up With Saga: Day 1 - Demonic Textures (December 11, 2008)

Bandit LOAF

Long Live the Confederation!
We've done you all a great disservice by failing to report on some of the great work that the Wing Commander Saga mod team has been announcing - so we're going to catch up with their updates in a series of four posts! Below are two of their retextured ships, which are designed to "capture the general emotional feel of this period of the war: gritty and battleworn." For those who aren't so good with their silhouettes, that's a mercenary Demon (from Privateer) and a pirate Talon (from Wing Commander IV).

a combination of checking on this and playing wc1 made me notice that the bloodfang is listed in the ships2 database as a wc1 kilrathi ship despite its first siting being in the wc2 trailer, likewise the Jrathek is shown in the wc2 page despite not appearing until academy.

Pick Pick Pick! :D

If nobody's going to compliment the great texturing job on these ships, I will.

Great texturing job on those ships!

I know there is a reason for that...it just completely alludes me now. IIRC the Bloodfang was actually in a demo (hence where the first model appears) I forget if its the WC2 or WC1 demo. It's in there though :P

I forget the logic behind the Jrathek though.

Did you read the page? The Bloodfang featured in the WC2 demo is an older WC1-era version. It's quite distinct from the Bloodfang you fly against in WC2 at K'tithrak Mang.

likewise the Jrathek is shown in the wc2 page despite not appearing until academy.

And for all intents and purposes, WC Academy is the mission builder for WC2. The section works better with ships like the Wraith and Gothri grouped in together.
