does anyone here know of all the CONFED Capital Ships that are still in service as of WCP/WCSO? I was thinking of putting together a web-site, and I was wondering which CapShips I could choose from.

For sure:

Midway
Vesuvius
Plunkett
Cerberus
Murphy
Pelican

I assume:

Concordia
Tallhassee
Sheffield

That's about all I can help you. Wait till LOAF comes on. He'll know.

Correction the Cereberus was a Hades Class Strike Cruiser, there is no Cereberus Class

I would also assume any surviving Bengals, since they are newer than Concordia Class Carriers

No, the Cerberus is another ship, not the Hades with the name Cerberus, there is the TCS Hades & TCS Cerberus

I think that the Kilrathi War-era ships were decommisioned shortly after WCIV...still, I wouldn't be surprised to find one or two Caernavarns still in Confed service...

i think they would send the war era ships to the backwater sections. The newer ships would be more expensive so there would be less of them but the number of systems is only incresing. so send antiques to the places that don't require a valuable new ship.

Thats just like with fighters. In Prophecy and SO we saw Excaliburs and Thuderbolts, the last new fighters of the war being used deep inside Confed space while carriers like the Midway and Mount St. Helens (before she was destroyed) get top of the line fighters.

Those systems aren't backwaters, though. They were in Sol sector amd only a few jumps from Earth. which puts them at the heart of Confed space.

Best, Raptor

Right, and there *wasn't* much of a threat that deep in the heart of the Confederation that would warant top of the line, full scale military prescense.

im sorry but the best ships would be near your homeworld. if only for pr purposes. since theres no large scale war going on thats about the best place to have them.

Your best ships would be where the trouble was, or else your just wasting your resources. Confed has pirates and renegade Kilrathi to worry about. The Midway had to take out a pirate base on its maiden voyage. Any trouble spot would need a considerable show of force just to show Confed means buisness. Its not like the Kilrathi where they had to keep their finest to guard the homeworld from attack by supposed allies.

but since earth is the approximate center of the confederation you put the forces there so they can move to any spot quickly. You don't need a supercarrier protecting the unimportant colonies near the edge. you give the hillbillies crap ships to defend themselves with.

:note:
i am heading to bed right now so you will have to wait untill tomorrow for my reply to your reply.

What you do is put them on patrol in assigned sectors. Like the Claw in Vega sector. That way if any trouble shows up, you have a powerful force there to deal with it, and others can be routed to it as necessary from neighboring sectors. Then you send in the crap ships to relieve the good ships while they handle the crisis.

It wont be until late tomorrow that i will be able to reply to whatever your reply to mine is:)

Supposedly Confed decomissioned the Caernavarns and the 40-series CV's (Ranger class ships) after the war -- we don't know that anything else has been scrapped yet. The Manassas type light cruisers and the Tarawa type escort carriers are being sold off to the Landreich. They're still producing Concordias, circa mid-70s (and there are even still a few specialty Caernavarns in service).

The Excaliburs and the Thunderbolts in SO for the most part belong to various guard units -- the fighters were purchased when they were state of the art, as 'show' craft... like how the unit on Tamayo had state of the art T-Bolts in '69. T-Bolts and Excals are still mainstream fighters (the cheaper 'bolts moreso)... Midway herself has a Thunmderbolt squadron (which se see in SO).

Confed generally keeps their major warships closer to the homeworlds these days -- due to political pressure after the BAttle of Terra...

The Victory was sent to the front lines because they were running out of ships and were losing the war :) After the Battle of Terra all kinds of old scrap heaps were sent to the front because they had little else to send...
