    Carrier Landing Styles

Hmm... I remember reading somewhere about the 'new' phase shields. If they had them pre-war, why wouldn't they be on capital ships in WC1?

    Super Wing Commander on WinXP/Me/98

What about the carriers? It has been at least 2 years since I have played Armada (I don't have infinite resources like yourself :) ), but I remember them being pixelated, like the Claw from SWC.

I am well aware, however, I do not beleive they utilized 3d models for the cap ships. The 3d engine DOES support billboards, you know.

    Super Wing Commander on WinXP/Me/98

According to the interview with Roberts, they used very primitive CAD software for WC1. Up until WC3 (the cap ships in Armada were sprites I beleive), they used a more advanced 3d renderer with phong shading.

    WC3 renew with prophecy-engine?

Add new variables. obj.iscloaked() and when you are trying to target something, if iscloaked() returns TRUE, it skips over it. Also, an ON ACTION for obj.cloaking() would either make the ship invisible or visible.

Viper: That site says that phase shielding was developed early... It was, I beleive, developed during the time Blair was on Caernarvon, after WC1 and before WC2.

    Carrier Landing Styles

Ok, I have an interesting question. The Carrier from WC1, the Bengal Strike Carrier TCS Tiger's Claw, had what I call a 'landing strip' type landing platform. In WC2, the Concordia Dreadnaught TCS Concordia also had a 'landing strip' type landing platform. But in WC3 and 4, on the Victory and...

    Wing Commander in FreeDOS

Hello, I have a drive set up with FreeDOS, but how would I run, say, Privateer on it? I always get an EMS error, even though EMS is set up...

    Super Wing Commander on WinXP/Me/98

I think they used that model for the Bengal-class Strike Carrier in Armada as well. The reason SWC looks like Privateer is because it looks like WC2 as well. In WC1, every ship was hand (well, you know) drawn. In WC2 and Priv, every ship was modeled in a 3d modeler, then exported as...

Found old Wing Commander Manuals and Guides

In Claw Marks, they said that Confed made contact with an insect-like race, that they codenamed 'Double-Helix', based on their ships. Did they ever use them in-game?

    Is Origin Origin or EA?
