Well as you see in my post *Wing Commander games problems* i have the same sound card that you have... the problem is the sound card your config and autoexec are good., i don´t think that it have a solution....crappy on-board Card :(
BTW wlecome to the CZ !!!!! :)

AW....shucks.

drat drat
double drat

so i guess i can:

a)play without sound and just hope that it won't die on me all the time.
b)get a new/older soundcard
c)surf the garage sales for a 486

any other ideas?

(btw thanks Ghost!)

What exactly are the speech problems you're having? Static? Choppy speech? Or just silence?

Did you install using the following settings?

Sound Blaster / Sound Blaster Pro
I/O Port: 220
IRQ: 5
DMA 1

Also, which C-Media chip is it? I see three on the website (http://www.cmedia.com.tw/).

well...

actually i set it to just sound blaster (not pro)

and i'm not getting static, i'm just getting silence....and it randomly locks up.

I have that crap too :( 8738....
I have sometimes static, sometimes not....and always crash !!!!!!

I only use the music, and the card drivers from the link that Stinger wrote are the same that i have
