Wing Commander Album Updates

Because I love harassing these people, I shot off an email to The Fatman and George Oldziey.

We are working on the orchestrations. We're about a month behind where I thought we'd be by now, but we _are_ making progress.

If you haven't heard, Mr Oldziey is writing a score for the online videogame Shaiya to be released in 2005. It's being performed by an 80 peice orchestra and choir at Clint Eastwood studios on the Warner Bros lot. (This is the same place another great videogame composer, Michael Giacchino, recorded some of TV's Alias)

Ok, time to do some number crunching. These are pretty on the mark for estimates of a "modern" orchestra - give or take a couple of hundred dollars.

I dont think Ive ever seen any links to this anywhere but if I missed it I apologise. About 3 years ago on a sample forum I used to go to a lot David Govett put up a work in progress version of the new reorchestrated Wing Commander theme he was working on (presumably for the cd) with a new sample library that had just come out. Anyways, Ive uploaded it to my server for anyone that hasnt heard it yet.

Very interesting! I think the only sample we heard previously was a VERY short snipet of the title theme.
