Hi all new here but not to wing commander. I use to have WC3 and WC4 and still got Prophecy and prophecy still works in Windows 7 pro 64bit. The other day i got the urge to play WC4 which i dont own any more but did buy it of a well known website. Any way as seen as it was for windows 95 and dos the game would not install due to been so old game. I downloaded dosbox and got it setup and working following the tutorials but is there any way to make the screen more clear or any way round to making WC4 work on windows 7 pro 64bit by the cd and installing. Thanks for any info you PLEEBs.
 
What was the "well known website" you purchased the game from? GOG is selling WC4 from its service right now and it is ready to run right after the download complete.
 
Hi. Thanks for the reply. I didnt think i was able to put the website on where i got it from on here. The site was Ebay and got it cheap. Ive never heard of GOG is there web site legal?.
 
Good Old Games (GOG) is legal and has Wing Commander 1, 2, 3 amd 4 for purchase and as Dund says all will work on windows 7 from download.
 
ok what you need to do to run it on win:
1 check wether you have a win 95 or dos version
2 install. if you have a dos version and usb mouse it'll be a huge pain in the ass as you will need to move a cursor with keybord. also note that it might not work with some integrated GPUs for whatever reason, and only workaround is I know of is getting a separate graphics card. also - ignore sound and movie test failures
3 if you have dos version use CIC recources and find official patch that makes it a win95 version (download zip file and unpack to wc4 folder. click override)
4 get win95 to win 2k unofficial patch fond on CIC
5 run - if it doesn't work try using winxp emulator provided with win 7 pro.

At least this is how I run WC4. I always had problems with making cd/dvd drive work well with dosbox
