I just ordered a used copy of it because I was told it was good reading... and I cant play WC 2 on my computer nemore

Can anyone tell me about it? I mean I know its like a novelization, but is it illustrated or ???

Yes and no. It gives you the outline of the missions played plus it would give you the background information about the ships, fighters and the people in the Terran Confederation and the Kilrathi Assembly.
But that was the Ultimate strategy guide for Wing Commander 1 and 2 and their expansions..

You're probably referring to the Wing Commander I & II Ultimate Strategy Guide. Back in the day companies weren't so insistent on getting strategy guides out day-and-date with games... so you'd have things like large books that covered multiple games in a series. Better times.

But yeah, the book is excellent -- it's basically another Wing Commander novel, written entirely in prose with the author "looking back" at his adventures during WC1 & 2.

yeap thats what I got. I got for AUD$10 when I went past a bookstore and they were getting rid of there old books and all and I saw it lying on top of a pile of other books. I grabbed it when I saw it without hesitation...

I also have this one. The main character, curiously named LaFong was quite fleshed out. It provides excellent backround for the WC1-WC2 campaigns.

"Carl LaFong" is a classic 'unknown name' name, on the order of "John Doe".

It's originally from the 1934 WC Fields movie 'It's a Gift', which features a running joke in which characters are constantly looking for (but never finding) Carl LaFong.
