Yikes, that's actually a tough one. I've only seen the movie on TV a couple of times, yet I can still remember the opening fanfare. I don't think the WC1 theme would have worked too good on the movie. :)

I still prefer the WC1 theme though.
 
Even though I like the WC1 Theme, I have to go for the movie here. I play the soundtrack several times a day. :)
 
Although the WCM opening music is very good, I associate more happy menories with the Wc1 music and therefore vote for WC1.
 
It's a very tough call, but I remained faithful to David Arnold, one of my favorite composers. The two themes are equall to me, but there's something about the beautiful (if overused) fanfare.

I'm surprised that Oldziey's WC3 music wasn't mentioned as well. I remember the flight music to that was very humable.

I didn't choose it because I was referring to main themes, as I view the WC-1 opening as the Wing Commander (games) theme, and the WCM theme as the WCM theme. You know, like the Star Trek theme and the Star Trek: TNG theme...
 
WC1 had the best music out of all of them. Nostalgic reasons only of course. but that is what i like the most.
 
Are you guys Crazy. WC3 has the best opener go listen yourself. WC1 music sucks. Ah well since WC3 isnt up there ill have to vote for the WCm music which was pretty ok.
 
This thread is a nice change after debating the Enterprise theme song on alt.startrek;)
Anyways, WCM theme is great, possibly one of the best movie themes I've heard. But the WC1 theme is so distinctly, well, Wing Commander. When WC is mentioned, I get the WC1 theme in my head immediately. Thanks to your stupid thread I have it in my head now! :D
So I voted WC1.

I`d watch my mouth if I were you lieutenant. :)

What`s really crazy is that before my vote, WCM theme was in the lead. WC1 theme will rule forever.
 
And speaking of Enterprise, I was kinda dissapointed when they didn't put the song by The Calling as the theme. I liked that song.
 
How can anyone say that about the music of Wing1.It was great.One of the principle reasons that game sticks in my memory so well is because of the music.Whenever I hear the barracks piece from Wing1, it floods me with nostalgia.
Back to the topic.Both of the themes were good.The original theme had a lot of heroism in it and seemed to symbolize the seriest,then again,so did the movies.It is such a tough call.When you consider the fact that Wing1 came out in 1990 and it was only a computer game,then I think it is safe to say that Wing had an incredible soundtrack that is still much better then a lot of film soudtracks out there.Actualy,as far as original midis go,I liked the theme to Wing2 ("Cloak and Dagger") better.
