Where is the hangar on the Concordia Supercruiser?

On a whim, I decided to remodel the Concordia Supercruiser model I have (okay, so it's because it's the first model I ever made, and also because it sucked). I soon realized why - it's because the only images I have of the Supercruiser are a couple of shots in the TCN Handbook, none of them showing an adequate view of the rear or bottom. Now, I can make out a few obvious things (the bridge, the AMG turrets and what looks to be some sort of axial cannon) - but where the hell is the hangar? Is it that thing on the bottom of the cruiser?

I understand Pilgrim Stars has detailed info on this - could anyone give me some pointers here (or even just take a couple of screenies from the movie, since I seem to have misplaced my copy)? I don't mind taking creative liberties, but I like to be as informed as possible.

Sorry, I cannot help you with that, Bob. But I have a question. Could you perhaps post some shots of your model and/or scans from the TCN handbook? I'd be interested in trying to model it somewhere in the future, and I don't really know how it's looking except from some brief scenes in the WCM.

This Concordia, is it THE Concordia? From WC2 and WC3's intro? In that case, the thing at the bottom is the dreaded PTC. The hangars are... well, on the upper side of the thing. There is a structure towards the back with the bridge and whatnot, and the hangars are on the sides. Extreme left and right. Accompanied by something that looks like a road - one road for each hangar.

I think he means the Concordia Supercruiser from the WC Movie, not the Confederation-class Dreadnought from WC2.

That's the Dreadnought, and the third ship in the WC novels, movies, and games to bear its name. The first was destroyed in Action Stations, the second was seen in the WC movie (the Supercruiser) and decommissioned before 2665, when we see the third sip of that proud name sail forth as a Confederation-class dreadnought.

That settled that. Bob, I seem to remember the hanger being on the bottom of the cruiser, but its been awhile since I've read Pilgrim Stars (Its on my to do list). LOAF can probably help you out.

Hmmm

I got a question. Concerning its wartime role, is the supercruiser pretty much the same as a battlecruiser? Big warship with heavy armament but less armor then one would assume for its size? Because that's what I'm guessing it is right now. (for all its worth, in the CIC articles, the initial email sent by Origin concerning the Concordia before WC2 said that was a supercruiser as well).

I don't think so ... the supercruiser is armored pretty effing heavily for its time, and it seems to be not only the backbone of the Confed fleet as of 2654, but the flagship of every fleet we hear about in the movie.

Plus, it's referred to as a "battleship".

Here's a few WIP shots. Forgive the jaggies, gmax doesn't know what 'anti-aliasing' is.

Yeah. It's for a Homeworld2 mod, so I'm leaving them vacant for now - but the big elevated cylinders are where the turrets are supposed to go.

There's also several ventral, IIRC.

Sometimes I think Confed began building the majority of their capships (including some from WC1-4) as sea-going vessels then realized they didn't need too much of a water-bound navy to fight the Kilrathi. :)

The cats aren't supposed to like water, anyway. Remember Venice? And Sam was so surprised. I enjoyed killing all those cats on that underprotected station. It was awesome.
