Ya know, he did...and I didn't hear about him for the longest time...Now they start announcing Civ III all
over these video game magazines. I'm pretty sure he'd have to be involved for there to be another Civ game.
He wasn't involved with Civ II, why would he be involved with Civ III?

Civ II was made by Sid Meier..But the Civ III Call for Power was made by another guy.

Call to Power wasn't officially called Civ III because of the legal stuff that went on with Sid Meier. He got to continue the series, but they still got to make Civ games, or something... Civ 3 is the one he's working on now that's coming out later this year.

Civ II was not made by Sid Meier. His name was on it, but he didn't actually do anything except maybe nod a few times.

And yet we seem to like to give Chris Roberts full credit for games in which he did less than that...:)

I, personally, rather doubt the "BRIAN REYNOLDS REALLY MADE CIV II" story, simply because it appeared immediately *after* Meier left his company... <G>

If MicroProse were the only people saying that Brian Reynolds made Civ II, I'd agree with you. However, Sid Meier himself said that in an interview (Gamespot, I believe, but I can't remember any other details), and there would be no reason for him to lie about that :).

So basically, Civ II is as much a Sid Meier Game as StarLancer is a Chris Roberts Game ;).

C:CTP wasn't made by the same company, IIRC.

There was a big legal flap...C:CTP was orginally supposed to be called Civlization...they eventually ended up calling it A Call To Power due to the copyright of the Civ name...

I love Civ II. My friend Dave failed out of college cuz he became addicted to the multiplayer. :)

So the new Game will be Civilization III from Sid Meier (Firaxis) ??????
Mmmmhhh... sorry for missing out, it might already have been said, but do we know when that's coming out?

Nobody nose...:D

As for CTP, I understand that Activision got the rights to make semi-official Civvies, Microprose got to fiddle with sequels to CivII, and Firaxis gets to make Alpha Centauri. I understand the arrangement is kinda like Mechwarrior...:D

It was something tricky with Activision buying the rights to do a computer game of the original Civilization boardgame... or somesuch craziness.

Perhaps they could send a STRIKE TEAM(tm) through the wormhole.
<smacks head> Can't believe I didn't realise why that was the title. That's what I always wanted after SO - why did they cancel it? :( If and when they do choose to make the next WC, there's no reason for them not to pick up where they left off, it there?

BTW, that's some pretty sad puns a couple a pages back. :)

Bad puns are a constant, there's no escaping them.

Strike Team was cancelled in favor of Wing Commander Online, as was the style at the time.

Got info on CivIII. It's looking good, and the Suits say it'll be out this winter...but, lets me honest now, have the suits EVER been right?

BTW, LOAF or some other superhero, I humbly request that you look at my "WC Science 101" thread, or direct me to answers. Thank you.

[Side note: SM was workjing on a Dinosaur game (really) but he abandoned it to become an Advisor in CivIII. Someday, I'm sure they'll be a WC conversion. If we all yell and scream enough. In the meantime...things look good, because CivIII goes up to 4000 A.D. :D)

Sweet!!

Civ 1 was the first game on which I spent more than 6 hours in a row playing!! <G>
Notice I said "first", not "only"... ;-)
Even my dad loved it!! Considering what a Retro my dad is game-wise, that's high praise for the game... <G>

Bob McDob... you mentiond a "WC conversion"... how the hell is that going to be possible?
Like... all the races present in WC?

Mmmmh... I would rather think of a scenario, like the ones from CivII, no? :)
