Whatcha think...?

212 Squadron - "The Old Man's Eyes And Ears"
This is really "sterile conjecture" (Oh God, now I'm quoting the Wing Commander Movie...It's all over now! :) )
but I want to know what people think happened after WC: Prophecy and Secret Ops.

Don't give me a fanfiction story either, just gimme the jist of what happened where and to whom.

Those who "bring back" Blair in bad fashion ala Ripley in Alien Ressurection will be dragged out of the CZ by wild dogs. :)

Hmm. Lets see, after the big boom of the wormhole, Blair floated around, but got caught in a wake of the collapsing wormhole and was flung into a different dimension. Same location, but different time period, say...2000 years! Only to find that everything he knew, everyone he knew is long gone. A totally new alien species has taken over the entire Confederation and surrounding civilizations. But its not a bad thing, the aliens are the Steltek, bringing new technology and ideas to combine the civilizations into a new Steltek Empire, an empire of the people, for the people, by the people. (sound familiar?)

It is the intention of the new Steltek Empire to bring every species together, to form a more perfect union. One empire, under the stars, indestructable, with liberty and justice for all. But this happy harmony is in danger! There is an alien race that is equal to the Steltek level of technology. And they intend to reak havoc on this new Steltek Empire. They come from a distant galaxy, taking systems by force, and adding the systems to their society.

Since the Steltek are familiar with Blair and his record, they revive him and bring the famous hero of the Confederation back to help bring the new threat to an end.

Oh, the Steltek reopen the Mars site, and tours begin once again! :D

It's ok man...

OK here is mine. The Bugs reappear and blair is working for them (read on...) He helps them defeat some confed forces and gains their trust, then he turns on them and takes all of their tech to the confederation and a flight group of Blair, Maniac, Panther, Primate, and Vero join up, fly Dragon Mark II's and Morningstar Mark II's and Kill all the bugs

RFBurns, the Steltek stuff is from a fanifc...

Obviously, we analyze the gate technology. We'd probably open our gate...then again, probably not. Confed is a democracy, so we wouldn't invade them. We'd probably just look for new 'holes forming. When they did...we'd attack their fleet.

But they uterly fail. But then little Jimmy in his ultra cool Starfighter comes along and with uber cool weapons. With the speed double the Vampire, four times the loadout of the Devastator, and the armor and shielding of a Hades. He comes through, blows away all of the bugs and then flies to their homeworld using his super neat jump technology that he invented and blows away all traces of them.

Upon return, little Jimmy is name Super Cool King of the Confederation and all Terrans live happily ever after.

Hey, it could happen. :)

Blair is now borg. ahh screw it no he aint.

I think blair MIGHT (might is keyword here) be dead. so im not thinking he'll be coming back, after SO, the cerberus would go in a real black ops job scouting into bug space via wormhole, thus begins the retaliation. Maybe they'll find blair somewhere in another battleship, sending a last hope transmition? so they'd have to take over the ship or something i wouldnt know. Just what i think anyways

Sterile conjecture, indeed.

I always imagined the Stellar Accretion Device was used to send an expeditionary force into Bug space, where they found Blair, and then kicked Bug ass somehow.

Err..excuse me?...I dont think so! The Steltek ideas came from the game Privateer, I dont have ANY of the novels, or any copies of fan fiction. My reference was from the game itself.
But if my idea sounded like something from a previous fan fiction, I had no idea since I dont get into that stuff. I mostly go by the games, but I do need to start collecting the fictions and novels.

There is, however, a rather fanciful fanfic out there that has the Steltek returning and trying to conquer Confed/Kilrathi space several hundred years after Privateer 2.

Ahh, but in my idea, the Steltek unite all species, not attack the Confederation and Kilrathi Empire. A slight difference! But if the Steltek came down on Confed and Kilrah, I doubt there would be much chance of victory with the Steltek and their superguns! They probably would release a hord of drones loaded with those W fireing super guns!

It's ok RFB... we'll get you that "originality medal", don't worry... ;)

BTW, I really liked your Wing Commander episode 6 story!! :D

The Steltek *gave up* their technology to lead a simple, more peaceful life... a rather interesting story, IMO -- not sure why every fanfic in the universe needs to make them super conquering God aliens.

Well... look what happens when you're not very developed technologically, and you meet the Kilrathi (cf all the primitive races the Cats have conquered)...

Of course, you could claim "look what happens when you are technologically developed, and meet the Kilrathi to share your technology with them (cf Hari)...", but the Hari did not realise the Kilrathi way of life soon enough...

I wanted to say "but that's because the Hari were stupid", but someone (e.g. you LOAF ;) ) could have said "the Hari were not stupid, they were overly generous and uncautious", so I refrained myself...

But I'm glad you have the same opinion I do, on this matter... :)

God Aliens? I always saw the Steltek as Vulcan-esque. Even Zen to an extent...

The Steltek (and various other WC aliens) are interesting as they are... but fanfic people seem obsessed with turning them into horrible enemies.

It's the male "Bigger is better" ideal. Look at the Midway. I'd rather have the Tarawa a 1000 times more than the Midway. I'd rather fight the Cats for the rest of my years than the bugs...

Jeez, Bugs. What freaking genius decided to rip off Starship Troopers again? (Granted Bugs have been used as aliens for years, but ST was the first classic use). Hell, Cameron did it in Aliens but...
