What classes are offered at the Academy?

Apologies if this has been previously addressed . . .

I was wondering what classes were offered at the Naval Academy?

I understand from the WC Academy TV series (Red & Blue) that classes include:
  1. unarmed combat,
  2. simulated space combat, &
  3. kilrathi psychology

I'm sure that there's a large number of classes that I'm missing, what are they and what is the source?

I goes without saying that there would be courses on navigation, small arms, and a whole lot of actual flight time in trainers, not just in simulators. There would probably also be something similar to the Air Force's survival, escape, and evasion instruction.

Probably lots of math too :(

I don't know if they were specific classes or not but in one of the guides (or was it claw marks?) it talks a bit about blair and maniacs scores.
Bandit LOAF said:
At Flight School, he and Blair were competitors for first place. Blair edges out Maniac in the flight column, but loses at marksmanship.

Blair-
Flight - 96.2 - 1st (of 314)
Marksmanship - 93.4 - 2nd
Safety - 100 - 1st
Navigation - 100 - 1st

Maniac-
Flight - 91.1 - 2nd
Marksmanship - 95.1 - 1st
Safety - 64 - 311th
Navigation - 88 - 22nd

Their respective academic careers are interesting, too... because Maniac comes out significantly ahead of Blair in the classroom.

That info is from the Confederation Handbook (which I guess is close enough to "guide" for the WC movie :) ).

The numbers listed by AD are for Flight School, which is attended after graduating from the Naval Academy on Hilthros (this is also what is seen in Red & Blue).

The best resource, bar none, for learning about the Academy program is the Wing Commander I & II Ultimate Strategy Guide. It uses the story of Cadets LaFong and Marshall going through the TCSNA to explain basic tactics and background for the games. The writer clearly based quite a bit on the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, creating equivalent rites and traditions and so forth.

As for specific classes, quite a bit of mention is given to "Strategy and Tactics in Space Flight Combat", taught by veteran pilot Lt. Col. Raymond Blakely. When LaFong lists the courses he's taking exams for during his first year, he mentions History, Engineering and Physics. Lots of other attention is given to the simulated space flight training and then later the OJT exercises onboard the TCS Formidable.

Turner and Banbridge talk about classes at the TCN Service Academy at Houston in Action Stations, including Naval History 101.
