Hey, I see you're in the Netherlands, just like I am. Perhaps I can mail you a copy of the CD's?

::Ahem::

Stating the CIC's CZ Rules section...

11) Linking to, offering, requesting, or hinting at the existence or whereabouts of warez, abandonwarez or other illegal content, can result in immediate banning.

I wouldn't talk about pirating Cds if I were you...

I don't see how the CDs are any more pirated then the posting of the episodes in the first place. Which is something the CIC does, so they can't really complain about it, now can they...

That's not your decision to make, the administrators handle it. That's their discression since it's their rules. Please do not post futher pirating posts on this board, for your sake.

...The Emperor is not as forgiving as I am... :D

Yet you were the first to make a decision. You can report a post or thread to chatzone@ if you think it needs immediate attention.

Although we were the only ones given permission to distribute WCA, I don't object to someone else copying the CDs or casually mentioning it here.

Sorry, Kris. I was just looking out for my fellow man. I had thought that copying was bootlegging in this case, since the CIC is the only one allowed to post the WCATV episodes. I didn't think the posting of such required anyone's immediate attention, I was just pointing out that (I thought) it was against the CZs rules. I'm not trying to play administrator, I just wanted to kindly point him away from being warned, or worse yet, banned.

I've come under the gun in the past for posting the WC:P SO files because they were supposedly freeware. I know what it's like to make a mistake, and I thought I was helping someone. Instead, I was the one making a mistake. Whoops. Live and learn.

Kris, LeHah,

I love happy endings.
Last thing I have to say about possible bootlegging (apart from the fact that I prefer original products when it comes to WC) is a question.
As far as I know there's never been a real CD or release of the Making Of WC3 (do correct me if I am wrong), so would it be any offense if it was offered on this board?
And.. as we all know WC1 and WC2 are virtually impossible to buy anywhere anymore. Does anyone know anything about copyright protection of obsolete games?

Unforgiven, you find my email address in my profile... contact me. That way we take the whole discussion off the board.

Kris, I'm suggesting to leave this thread alive for two more days and then take it off the board, unless you want to keep it here as an example of how the rules apply. Just a suggestion, not trying to do your job for you, mind you.

There was "Behind the Screens: The Making of Wing Commander III" CD that came with the Bradygames(?) Strategy guide. It's sitting in my room, my friend never asked for it back.

If you previously owned WC1 or 2, let me know. There is a website that is allowing people who purchased the software but lost it to download the games again. I warn you, it's only if you previously owned the game. Email me if you want the URL.

:)

Thanx 4 the information LeHah. I got the CD from a German set of Shareware/Freeware collection, a German version of PC Games Magazine and never knew the status of the original.

As for WC1 and 2, I have both, and the add-ons. WC1 is a copied version as I lost the original disks AND the package.. still crying over that.

I was just wondering how real WC fans that stepped into the sequel later on could legally obtain a DOS WC1 or WC2 version. Especially because the packaging will differ quite a lot from KS, I suppose

On ebay Germany there are regularly WC1 and WC2 copies, some on disks, some on CDs. You might want to try it out...

Just a little Q: When WCA (the cartoon) took place in the WC Timeline, before in the middle or after WC1 ??

It was made post-wc4 and took place immedately before WC1 (or, for arguement's sake, the WC Movie)

AFAIK, WCATV takes place during WC1, except for the first episode. I believe the proof for that is that the 2654 Sivar-Eshrad ceremony (which they disrupt in WCATV) takes place (according to the calendar) during WC1.

So when they are in the Claw (WC1) they are under Tolwyn command ??? i don´t think so, really i don´t understand the WCA timeline !!
