WC4 sound issue

NEWB HERE... I started playing WC4 on me XP operating system recently and its the original DOS version.
The game works fine with the graphics and video quality scenes - but its the sound that is a real problem. The sound doesnt run smoothly during in-gameplay missions as well as the audio and the music is not up to scratch...can anyone help plz???
My card is Creative Sound Blaster PCI and i setted the sound settings to 'Sound Blaster and Compatibles'...fanx
 
did you perhaps turn off sound hardware acceleration to play WC: Prophecy? If so, turn it back on. Also consider using the Win95 patch (found in the CIC's files section) Apply it to your dos install and then set the compatability mode of the wc4 executable to win95/98. (right click on the executable and chose properties)
 
No i never played WC:Prophecy...and i dont know how to sort out the sound hardware acceleration - me so thick - and i dont have the Win95 patch or the 'applying it to your dos install'...maybe you can run it by me specifically step by step plz? Sorry...but fanx for info anyway.
 
Open up your sound card options in the control panel to check the acceleration, but if you didn't previously disable it like AD said, it's probably already set correctly. Just try the Windows patch.
