WC3 Novelization

Just finished reading it last weekend and I could swear there are some key missions missing. Two that come to mind are the Behemoth test firing and Blair flying a sortie drunk as a pathetic descendant of monkeys. Overall it was a thoroughly enjoyable read, but how many more pages could it have taken to include it all? If they really needed to save space, they could have just left out the whole personality overlay thing.

If you dislike a few missing missions, avoid the WC IV novelization. Lots of things are different than they were in the game.

Things don't really get cut to save space. It's a matter of flow and the author's style. Missions that work in the game may not work in a novel. On the other hand, the books are a great opportunity to include plot elements that the game or movie developers wanted to include but could not for some reason (such as space or game flow).

AS only gets into combat in the very end of the book. The rest is spent uncovering the Kat war plot.

Did someone edit my earlier post? I only posted about the WC IV novelization being different than the game. I never wrote anything about plot elements (although it is a valid point).

Yeah, but there's a lot of material for a game from the AS climax up to WC1. Even another novel covering the same time period would be killer, someone with the talents of Forstchen or Plywood Fiend could do a bang up job. Maybe the early exploits of TCS Victory, or flying on the wing of Damon Carnes - the possibilities are endless.............I know, I'm dreaming.

AS to WC1? AS was after WC1.

AS may be told from the viewpoint of a post-WC4 author telling a story, but the action described in the book happens in 2634, at the start of the war.

(And then there's the whole "publishing order" thing to further stir the pot... ;) )

Hehehe, I just realized, I was thinking we were talking about Fleet Action. My bad.

A mod with the First Battle of McAullife (the Kilrathi "jak-tu" that started the war) would be neat--sort of like Standoff, but it would take just as much work to pull off.
