WC3 and WC4 Books

it bugged me that the banchee in WC4 only had the laser gun... the avenger was a much better ship... i like the thunderbolt for WC3 and the Rapier for WC1... i have played WC2 so there, no comment...

The fact that the Banshee had *four* lasers as well as a rather nice refire rate made it a rather lethal ship in the right hands...

You better watch it Dragon Lord, there are alot of people here with some very volatile opinions on the matter of WC fighters :)

Ghost: Trainer before the War with the Kilrathi or with the BW?

My picks:
WC1- Raptor (IMHO, by far the best all-round fighter ever in the WC universe), WC2- Rapier II, WC3- Hellcat, WC4- Vindicator, WCP- Panther, just recently acquired a copy of Privateer so no picks on it, have never gotten Armada or Academy to run right on any PC I've owned so no picks there either :)

An also, this thread brought up a quesiton for me (Banshee being the trainer and all). At the end of the WC4 game, one of the endings has Blair as a flight instructor, the book has him as commander of the Intrepid (IIRC, he is some kindof liason between BW and Confed). The question is, is Blair a Flight instructor for Confed or the BW? The end scene shows him taking off in a Banshee (BW fighter, Confed trainer), so it leaves me a little iffy.

Banshee is an excelent ship. only imagine it with four tachyon cannons........rrrrrrrrrr....makes my spine shiver......

i found the banchee a little boring... the hellcat was a good ship... i really like the ships from Prophecy... it's shame nothing more came of Prophecy b/c it was a good story and it would have bee cool to continue the story of Casey... oh well...

I actually preferred the Vampire over the Panther... higher speed, and it was much easier to autoslide with the pitch and roll, instead of just yaw... I could get a lot more shots into the enemy, with much greater accuracy.

yeahh vampire......I'm ashamed to say, I had more joy in the sim than in the game itself.........just keep killing those cats in my vampire......and an otherone bites the dust!

the sim in prophecy was fun... there is just something about killing cats that so much better than the bugs.... i think that's why i like WC3 over WC4

The Vampire wasn't bad, but when shit hit the fan, I was all about Wasps in WC:p.

WC4 was hard to say. Dragons are too obvious a choice, so I'll say Vindicators. WC3 was the obvious Thunderbolt and maybe an Arrow.

Wasps always did kick ass... just something about flying a tiny fighter strapped on to a huge booster rocket capable of sending you blazing towards your objective... :D And the arsenal wasn't bad either. I particularly enjoyed the charging mass drivers.

The Wasp was a "offense is the best defense" craft. An ungody assortment of missles made this thing the perfect interceptor, what it was designed for. I personally didn't like the Wasp due to the fact that I'm a particle weapon man myself. I'd rather do the damage with ships guns than missles. With this tactic you take a lot of hits, this brings up the Wasps shortcomings, thin-shields and "thinner" armor. Still have to go with the Panther (the vampire was just too much machine for me I guess :) ) or the Pirhana. I got a huge sense of accomplishment after pounding (actually, plinking would be a better term) a target into submission and dancing around his return fire with the limited armament, shielding, and armor of the little fighter.

Using a Wasp without it's missiles is like "doing" a hooker without a condom. You're as good as dead.

This is great, assuming we've announced some kind of contest where you win a fantastic prize for the stupidest post ever. I haven't checked the front page for a while, so I guess it's possible.

Academy should run on any system which can run WC2. It runs fine in Windows 9x.

I think it was just a little joyflight. Also, there was some sort of personnel exchange thingy going on between Confed and the BW. If you recall, Hawk and Wilford returned to Confed in Prophecy as well as Blair and Maniac.

The ships in Prophecy were much more specialised than they were in the other WCs, so it's much harder to choose a 'favourite' ship, even though many (including myself) would favour the Vampire. The Wasp is also good for its intended role - of course, you'd not be using it for long-range patrols, etc.

I'll give it a shot with my new computer running XP but if I remember correctly, I tried running it in dos in WIn98 and everything moved to fast for me to choose options, kindof like the post I've got going in the tech support board. :) I'll give it a try in Windows.

I don't have to worry about that too much. I kick everyone's ass without too many problems.

Crude? Yes. Stupid? Not really... It's a delicate situation, and survivable... if you're skillful enough... More or less a bad analogy, for which I apoligize.
However, if there IS some fantastic prize for the dumbest post, you can go ahead and call it that. I don't offend easily. :D
