WC Unreal 2004 Level On The Way (June 11, 2004)

Many review sites said Unreal 2004 would be ideal for a Wing Commander mod because of its support for spaceflight integrated with shooting action. Dishwasher agreed and has been quietly working on a map based on a modified Durango Class Heavy Destroyer.
The work is far from done, but the exterior is shaping up quite nicely. I have attached some screenshots from both the exterior and some semi finished hallways. It's going to be a pretty big map and I hope to convert some of the really nice fighter meshes posted on your website. If all goes well players should be able to fly in Wing Commander fighters in this map.
I hope this will be of some interest for you.





It looks pretty neat so far. This should end up being a lot of fun.

Meshes for wc fighters

Hi I was wondering if there is someone who can help me size down the poly count for some of the meshes for wc fighters. It would be great if I could get some textured WC IV era fighters of around 2000 to 3000 poly's , importing 3DsMax or Maya meshes into UT 2k4 is real easy but i'm not verry good at working with either of these application's neither am i s'worlds best texture artist :). Sow if anyone cold help then that would be just fantastic

There was a small problem with the space combat engine in ut2k, the game was ment to be a first person shooter at first because the space combat engine in ut2k4 was kind of poor. there was no type of phsyics, lasers shots went too fast because there was no flight lead indicator, missiles hit the other ship all the time, no 3d VDU, and the only way to beat another opponet is to fly right behing him and there was an endless circling here, no joystick control.

you see, as-mothership was just a gimmick of the space combat scene that was printed on the cover of the game.

it would be nice for the WC modders for the ut2k4 to change the default space combat engine that the game proveded a little but and make it enhanced like add a little phsyics, flight lead indicator, have joystick control etc..

What ships do you need? I know a guy who's making a nice Banshee mesh - I could forward you to him and see what you could work out.
