WC TV stuff... and a link to watch

A web search revealed to me that this web site:

http://www.commanderspoint.com

Is actually a PNR site at the moment. (actually it's the same) But It appears they may have it set aside for a special reason ?!!

Dare we speculate?!! Do you think that PNR is preparing for something special? Is This proof of their commitment to a new WC TV show, or movie? Your opinions?

I hope this is just one more step closer to some much needed WC goodness to fill the void. That and of course WCP for GBA!

edit: Now I don't speak or read german but using a translator It seems to me this page http://www.pcp-forever.de/aktuell/specials/wc6.html is saying that roberts is in negotiations to get the game rights from EA / Origin?? Or am I wrong?

That was the name of the street Chris Roberts lived on when he lived in Texas, IIRC. It's just one of a bunch of domains registered by PNR (... which isn't even the name of the film company anymore, IIRC).

The German article does claim that he's negotiating with EA -- but it seems to be based entirely on speculation and what they read at PNRFilms.com...

Interesting... So what is it called now anyway?

Nothing like good ol' speculation to get the good (and bad) vibes happening! But at least it's the kind of rumor we want to hear!

well at least it's news right? I wonder what Roberts would do with WC if he got it back from EA? I don't know if another game would be in the works... maybe he wants to rights to use the names and such for the show...

Of course he wants the rights to use the names and such for the show... What would be the point of making a show about Wing Commander if you couldn't use any of the names, places, events or even the name 'Wing Commander'?

They'll never let him have it. It's precious to them.

Yes, it's their Precioussssssss.... they'll never let him hurt their Preciouss... not those filthy Hobbitses, since they'll do something with that trademark, and their Precious is too important to be used. ;)

Doesn't Roberts already have the rights to use names and such in shows and movies?!!! I'm under the impression that the rumor is about him negotiating to buy the rights to make another Wing Commander game.

Theoretically yes... However, we've never seen the actual terms of the contract (and the only copy of the press release that I know of went down with the WCHS... my partial backup, unfortunately, does not include it). There may have been a time limit or various restrictions on his rights.

Also, let's just say EA is very confused about it's game rights regarding Wing Commander. I'm not going to let a foreign article that I can't even read properly (other than a bad translation) and don't know the reliability of get my hopes up. :)

Now that I think about it....

I kind of remember a press release (a different on than that, loaf) way back in the day, Probably the same one that you're refering to, TC, back at the old WCHS site when the movie news was first coming to light... and I sorta remember something about a 5 year time limit (but don't quote me on that :) )

Kinda makes sense now.

1997-2002?...... equals 5 years....hmmmmm
