WC ports

With the exciting news about GBA getting prophecy, and LOAF's coverage of the FMTowns port, I wonder. Besides KS, SNES, and PC, where else has WC ventured onto?

SegaCD, Amiga, CD32, PC98, Playstation...

A WC was developed but never released for the Saturn.

Is Darkmage referring to a windows emulator working in Linux? I've heard pretty good things about the performance of Linux in those kind of circumstances. You wouldn't need to have a port for Linux in the same way as you can run privateer in Virtual PC.

But what it boils down to is running the PC version of WC in an emulator... just like you can run *any* version of WC in an emulator... it's not really worth mentioning given the question:)

<smacks head> Of course, I should have known at least the Playstation, if not the SegaCD and Amiga as well. What's a PC98? And wasn't the CD32 the same as the SegaCD (just different regional names)?

CD32's an Amiga console-based system... PC98's a japanese computer system.

Aw, heck, too many things. Didn't have a Mega Drive anyway - and yes, I know it's called a Genesis elsewhere.

Sega Genisis isn't the same as Sega 32X. The 32X is an addon to the Genisis or somesuch.

No, no, no. I meant that Mega Drive = Genesis, and I know the 32x was an add-on. Did the SegaCD work in conjunction with the 32x? Maybe that's where I got the association from.

Frosty didn't really answer the question there... Yes. The Sega 32X could be used at the same time as the Sega CD.
Mega Drive was actually the Genisis' predicessor, the rival to the original NES.

You're confused.

The predecessor to the Genesis is the Sega Master System. It wasn't particularly popular in the United States, and there's no Wing Commander for it.

The Mega Drive is the European and Japanese name for the Sega Genesis (similarly, their name for the SegaCD is the MegaCD... and so forth). There's versions of Wing Commander for the SegaCD and the MegaCD (Japanese).

The 32X is an addon for the Genesis. It *could* work with the SegaCD, but it didn't really enhance the CD portion at all... (it couldn't *always* work -- I, for example, have a Sega CDX which won't let you use the 32X...).

Hey, I'm Manic. I'm always confused... side effect of never sleeping and constantly working with lines of code. Thanks for clearing that up before I looked even dumber than usual. :D

Nah, I was just trying to clear up any confusion over exactly what the SegaCD and the 32X were, not specifically answer that question.
