WC Novel Petition!

Tolwyn and his dealings with the Belisarius Group could be gone into with more detail, as could the backgound of the BL. There's definately more story there.

Mmmmhh... okay, but it would be essentially a politico-thriller... no space battles involved, like everyone expects from a WC novel...

Well, maybe not everyone apparently... ;) but I doubt there's enough material to interest the casual reader...

Silly man, the Karga was renamed Mjollner, the Tarawa was renamed Independence:)

My motto is that we can always get what we want if we scream at everyone long enough. :)

What I really want to know, what I reallyreallywant...is, um...I don't know...I want LOAF to tell me how the Confed economy recovered so quickly!

The title of the book is False *Colors*. Elitism or not, calling it "Colours" is *just plain wrong*. :)

Confed's economy didn't recover quickly -- WCP is over a decade after the war.

The two planned novels after FC would have been the novel crew involved with the Kilrathi civil war and then the Landreich fighting Confed.

Landreich vs Confed...

My God...I'm very sad now, that we'll never see that story.

:(

There is an easy way to get the WC books back. Write one. Baen, the publisher for the original books, takes unsolicited manuscripts. However the manuscript has to be the full book and you have to be willing to wait about a year before the book will be reviewed and considered, but that's the nature of the beast. As far as I know, and I have checked on this, Baen still holds the publishing rights to any Wing Commander book based within games's universe. So what that means is you won't be able to use any references to the Pilgrims, or any of the tech established in the movie, but you can still use fighter designations.
So if you plan to write a book try and get an agent, because an agent can speed the process along quite a bit.
I'm currently working on a book of my own, not WC, but my next project may very well be a Wing Commander book, potentially an attempt at Prophecy or a Privateer spin off.

Relax LOAF, it wasn't my intention to upset the purists! <G>
I just try to spell names the English way...

Now if the original name was False Colors, so shalt it be for eternity, and so I shalt call it!

Baen does not hold the WC rights -- nor do they accept manuscripts for pre-existing series.

I'm perfectly aware that 'colours' is British... but the name if the book is *colors*.

I wonder if we could convince Baen to release WC fan-fiction in the form of a novel, kinda like the Star Wars "Tales from Jabba's Palace"...

I doubt it, but I dare to dream... :)

Once again, Baen doesn't hold the rights to publish any more WC books right now.

I wonder if the publishers know what kind of following that Wing Commander has.

I know they don't LOAF. Someone mentions it every week here (usually you), so it's kinda drilled into my head.

I think they know *exactly* what kind of following WC has...

... which is why they aren't publishing any WC books.

This is why publishers are evil. If a publisher and a lawyer were to get married, a devil child would be the offspring.
