WC Licenses

Hello everyone,

This is a really off the wall question, but does anyone know who to talk to about licensing for Wing Commander games for non-eletronic format? My company was talking about it at a recent meeting and we wanted to see how much it would be to buy it for a year. Any ideas?

Thanks all!

Electronic Arts holds all the licencing rights for Wing Commander products. you need to talk to them.

It will depend entirely on the details of the license. It's not something we can figure here, though -- you'd need to have your lawyer contact Electronic Arts to work out the details of such a project.

Is anyone else getting an "If you have to ask..." vibe, right about now?

It is nothing like that, I am not here to self promote the company. I honestly want to know. Getting ahold of anyone at Eletronic Arts has been taxing at best. I was just wondering if this had come up before, or if anyone had any ideas that could help. Heck, getting a phone number or email of a real contact has been more nearly impossible.

Thanks all!

He's not saying that you're trying to promote your company. The saying goes:

"If you have to ask, you probably can't afford it."

In any case, I'm interested in seeing how this turns out. I mean, if there is even a slight chance of us getting new Wing Commander merchandise, go for it. Also, having other companies asking EA about the WC IP can only be a good thing. Besides, I'm just as curious on how to contact one of the higher ups at EA.

EA is pretty protective of their Licences.

You are in for an uphill trek if you want to get rights.

EA would be happy to license any of its properties -- for the right amount of money.

If you e-mail me (loaf@wcnews.com) a letter of introduction, I can forward it to someone at EA.

Ecept for a board or card game, i could not envision anything

Stranger things have happened -- there's already a WC:CCG.

That said, other possibilities include an RPG, a miniatures game or some kind of gamebook.

I've always wanted to see someone bring out WC based model kits, or even R\C planes - now that I've gotten into those.:D
Once I finish my Havoc custom, I'm going to look into building something like a Morningstar, or I may go back to my WCM Rapier if I have workable spares.

ace and I actually got Trivial Pursuit for the original xbox. It had kind of a neat mode where the person just spoke the answer, and the answer displayed on the other people's screens, and they had to confirm that he got it right or not. With a little bit of honor system built in, they were able to avoid a tricky speech recognition problem.
