I never saw Firefly, one of my friends did and he thought it was a great show. I think I had to work whenever it was on, and my VCR was broken (I hated being poh-white trash.)

The think failed pretty fast for lack of audience, then all the nerds started buying the DVD set and lamenting that it was cancelled... every famous webcomic bitched about how great it was and why was it cancelled. Dorks.

The CGI is what made it so expensive. Yeah, the sets look cheap in this day and age (has anyone noticed how sci-fi shows suddenly went from cheap-but-stylish to movie quality in the span of 4 years?) but for what it's worth the military isn't known for making the most astheticly pleasing enviroments ever.

I just think the show never really reached the potential it should have - it's silly to compare, but I'm still waiting for someone to make a sci-fi show with the drama and weight of Band Of Brothers or even Cross Of Iron. Too many of them are too Space Opera.

What I found so intersting is that it was hard to tell that they were using CGI. I thought for the longest time that they were using traditional models and such.
I kinda liked the set design, actually. Not all starship interiors can be full of pastels like the Enterprise. <G>.

Farscape is my all time favorite television series, bar none. Bonnie Hammer (Sly-li channel head honcho) knocked it off the air for the lowest common denominator shows "Scare tactics" and "Tripping the Rift." Scare tactics is passing, but Tripping the rift is pure trailer trash shitter humor. Farscape was too mature to be liked, and it paid the price- prematurely. (We were promised a fifth season!!!!)

I never saw Firefly. I wanted to, but I worked on the nights it was on. By the time I managed to accumulate time off, the show had been cancelled.

All in All, Modern cable is "reality" TV and America's Favorite *blank*". It's quite dissapointing.

I actually enjoy Tripping the Rift quite alot, and in my opinion it's one of the most intelligent comedies on TV. Granted, that's not exactly great competition...

It's got sort of a Duckman quality to it (though I wouldn't quite put it in that calibre).

CGI usually means they have to create physical models for artist reference.

Tripping the Rift is alright, not something that I would go out of my way to watch, but it is entertaining. For some reason I would rather watch South Park instead.
