WC 4 1st mission

I am having trouble getting past the first mission in WC4. I get the transport escorted to the way point and it jumps out, but when I trail the 2 pirates to their base it says that the mission is complete. The transport jumps out and it says..."unable to complete mission objectives". I've tried to get in and destroy hte transport before it jumps out, but can't get to it fast enough. Any suggestions???

Don't attack the transport (it's actually a frigate)... all you have to do is identify it, and then head back. As soon as you're told you can, afterburn back towards the comm station.

If I remember it correctly, it has something to do with how far away you are from the pirate vessels, you must not be too close or too far away.

Is this really the FIRST mission?

Listen to the briefing again, perhaps you did miss something...

It's the second mission -- the first is when you go from Nephele to Orla... err, Bluepoint.

But yeah, if you get too close it jumps out and you lose the mission.

Hang behind the 'bolts about 12,000 klicks, like Eisen says and you'll be fine. You get the "Mission complete" when you get in visual range of the Frigate, after which you can turn around and bug out towards the Lady Lex so you can hop in a Longbow.

Ok, I thought that somehow I was supposed to destroy it. So, all i have to do is target it and that will auto matically identify the frigate, or do I have to do somethingelse to identify it??

Don't have to do anything at all. Stay >12K away from
the T-bolts (I aim for about 12.5 - 13.5 k myself).

Just fly along behind 'em until that stupid female voice
says "Objective Accomplished" or "Mission Complete" or
whatever. Then turn around and leisurely head back to
the Lexington. Load up a bomber and prepare to come back
for some serious butt-kickin'

I was wondering...
What happens if you let the frigate (CaernarvEn... ;) LOAF) jump out?
What would be the next mission then?

Then the next mission is a bit harder. instead of flying directly to the frigate, you have to fly to 3 nav points with enemies.

Don't forget the space between "de" and "rien"... :)

And I'm not part of your family, FLEABAG!! ;)
(just kidding, "temporary truce" I guess, between the furball and the ape, for WC matters... <g> )

Pardon, I was not paying attention. It is about 00:45 here in Germany. I think I will leave at 1:00 am.
And yeah, WC builds bridges of understanding, even between completely different cultures. ;)

Come on! 14 more posts and you can celebrate too!! ;)
(Don't forget a poem for me then... :D)

Err, I thik I am not in the condition to make up a poem (especially not in English) at the moment. But I owe you one and I will not forget...
You convinced me though, I will graduate to Colonel before I leave (if there are enough posts that I can answer without talking total nonsense).
I like the insignia of Lt.Colonel netter thant that of Colonel though.

ok i never once beat that first mission....never. Always had to do it the hard way, i always thought you were meant to fail cause no matter what happened i always failed...so there still is stuff i havent seen.....cool

I always find it amazing that some people have trouble with that mission. I mean, you're given pretty clear instructions... is it really so difficult to follow them?

Exactly. I mean, the instructions were given inflight as opposed to in-briefing. One thing that bothered me, though: why do they static out the bit where Eisen says kilometres/klicks in "12 kilometres"? Was that supposed to be part of the challenge, or is it because of different measurement systems in different countries?

You must remember that when Eisen is giving his instructions there is a bit of interferance for some strange reason...And all he says is to follow the 'Bolts back and find the location of the base...
After finding the base I always thought, "what the heck, another kill!" and then the base jumps out...Eisen only said to follow the 'Bolt back until you found the base, he didn't say don't shoot down the 'Bolt at all...I thought all would be clear after the base came on radar...
