Not to mention that 'cartoon' characters have nothing to do with ship design.

No, but it would look incredibly stupid to have a real looking charactor jumping into or out of a cartoon ship... or vice versa

Is that why all those elderly blue-haired ladies exist in retirement communities/nursing homes?... I guess that's kinda a way of sayin' that blue hair is in your future (if you're a woman; if you're a guy, mostly NO hair is in yer future...)
