I just finshed reading the Novel False Colors.

What i find strange is that Richards died at the end of the Novel on a FRLN Light Cruiser but somehow he manages to be in Wing Commander 4 Novel how is this possible if False Colors is set before the WC4 Novel.

He's also mentioned at the begining of Action Stations in such a way that he's still alive.

Out of Universe answer is that Forstchen didn't mean to kill him.

In Universe answer would be that he either managed to escape and was captured or he did some sort of magical black ops thing that allowed him to get the hell out. It's also possible that it was Richards faking his own death so he could work in secret.

According to Keith (who killed him), he was going to come back in the next book... Richards is Confed's master spy, afterall.
