Peace Through Superior Firepower
HIGH FLIGHT
By John Gillespie Magee, Jr.

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and
swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up, up the long delirious burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never Lark, or even Eagle flew -
And while with silent lifting mind, I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand and touched the face of God.

Nicely done.

And he was asked why did he climb it... he said because it was there... well the moon and stars are there and we are going to climb it... -JFK, WING COMMANDER

Where My Heart Will Take Me

Lyrics by Diane Warren

It's been a long road, getting from there to here.

It's been a long time, but my time is finally near.

And I can feel the change in the wind right now. Nothing's in my way.

And they're not gonna hold me down no more, no they're not gonna hold me down.

Cause I've got faith of the heart.

I'm going where my heart will take me.

I've got faith to believe. I can do anything.

I've got strength of the soul. And no one's gonna bend or break me.

I can reach any star. I've got faith, I've got faith, faith of the heart.

It's been a long night. Trying to find my way.

Been through the darkness. Now I finally have my day.

And I will see my dream come alive at last. I will touch the sky.

And they're not gonna hold me down no more, no they're not gonna change my mind.

Cause I've got faith of the heart.

I'm going where my heart will take me.

I've got faith to believe. I can do anything.

I've got strength of the soul. And no one's gonna bend or break me.

I can reach any star. I've got faith, faith of the heart.

I've known the wind so cold, and seen the darkest days.

But now the winds I feel, are only winds of change.

I've been through the fire and I've been through the rain.

But I'll be fine.

Cause I've got faith of the heart.

I'm going where my heart will take me.

I've got faith to believe. I can do anything.

I've got strength of the soul. And no one's gonna bend or break me.

I can reach any star. I've got faith.

I've got faith of the heart.

I'm going where my heart will take me.

I've got strength of the soul. And no one's gonna bend or break me.

I can reach any star. I've got faith, I've got faith, faith of the heart.

It's been a long road.

"You mean a John Stewart song like the one on that star trek show Enterprise"

Heh, thought that seemed familiar enough, then I switched over to my Enterprise CC Logs capture window and saw it...

Worst song for a Star Trek series, but it is a good song nonetheless.

Interesting. Well, there muse be some exceptions to that rule, at least to some degree.

But what intrigues me is: why are musicians that sing their own song unpopular? :)

They're not. Manufactured "popular" artists come and go like the wind. One year they're here, the next they're not. Artistes who write their own music generally stick around for some time, even if they're not as 'popular' as the manufactured ones.

You think? I guess it had to happen. I wanted a tribute of some kind to honor those who gave their lives exploring the greatest frontier. Leave it to some goob to start a discussion about singers, etc.

The time for tributes has been long gone. Perhaps one should remember them on the anniversary of their tragedies, not three months down the track. People's attitudes may be a bit differnt. :)

Also, "Faith of the Heart" was sung by Rod Stewart, and Russell Watson for Enterprise.
