These two screenshots show the vista and hangar of New Paris. New Paris is evidence of Privateer 3's unusual direction for human culture--it is an older, technologically advanced planet ruled by a monarchy!

The images from the 2008 birthday updates calls this place 'New Parris'. Which spelling is correct, out of curiosity?

Great scenery there - the idea of a monarchy presiding over a modern, space faring culture is neat.

Sorry, mixed up two threads. They're all legacy filenames, so it's hard to tell which is correct. The Privateer 3 'manual' (actually an internal publicity doc) spells it "Paris."

Sorry about that - the discussion really spans all of these news items.

Fair enough about the names. I'll go with Paris.

About the differences between this batch and the ones published in 2008, the first two pairs are the same: Yena and G'tok. But I didn't notice that this third pair includes a new and very high-resolution update. Thanks for pointing that out.

Oh, and I wouldn't say a monarchy is unusual in either a current-day or future context - Freelancer's Bretonia is ruled by Queen Carina, if I recall correctly. Though, I suspect most of you don't live under a monarchy-based government, hence the apparent foreign nature.
