To whomever made the Privateer mp3's...

... um... whomever you are.

How did you do it? They sound so much better than the playback in the actual game. With the way it sounds, it's like a real orchestra was commissioned and recorded each of the songs.

In short, I am enjoying them immensely, thank you for providing them. I am especially enjoying the Oxford and New Detroit themes.

Are you talking about the one's from CIC? They're actually not that good... full of background noise.

I assume they took the original MIDI files and rendered them with wavetable synthesis or whatever. Talk to Mad Hatter, he made some very nice Privateer MP3s for me.

Make that several WC MP3s - I hope he doesn't mind me advertising http://www.geocities.com/ace_mcjack/

Also, the New Detroit theme is mislabelled - it's actually the (AdLib version of) Agricultural bases, IIRC. General MIDI versions sound much better (more instruments).

Oxford was also a very 'quiet' song, so I think that one has the most noise in it.

Mad Hatter is pretty damn good at what he does. He took a bunch of WC3 mp3's I sent them and converted them for me. They sound amazing. Thanks again MH.

Trust me, once you have a basis for comparison, you'll know what I mean. I thought the CIC ones were good when I first heard them too.

<Sigh> Well, I guess if you're satisfied, that's all that matters. Still, you should know that there is greener grass...
