Throttle / Speedcontrol doesn't work (WC3 & WC4 with Dosbox)

Hey Guys,

I'm trying to play Wing Commander 3 & 4 with Dosbox 0.72 on my Ubuntu Linux 8.04 System with an Logitech Attack 3 Joystick. Almost everything works fine, except the throotle doesn't want to work and i don't know how to fix it..

i tried every joysticktype the dosbox.conf offers me, but nothing worked.

2 years after - Hints

You only have to wait for almost 2 years and there it is, an answer

I Have/had the same exact problem and can provide at least parts of a solution.

There are patches for joystick support for WC3/4 that can be downloaded here (wcnews.com). The patch for WC4 works perfectly for me, guess thats because I play it with the WinXP version instead of DosBOX'ed one.
With WC3 though I still have problems. Did anyone manage to get the speed throttle axis to work in WC3 yet? If so I would be very thankful to know which joystick was used and how the settings in dosbox.config as well as ingame and in the game-setup-menu have been like.

I use a Thrustmaster USB Joystick with 3 axis & 4 buttons.
