This will Fix Joystick Calibration Problems in Privateer 2

I have seen a number of messages regarding joystick calibration problems in Priv 2 and this is the best way to fix it.

I had the same problem with running Dos Priv 2 in win 98.

I think it has something to do with Priv 2 not accepting
position signals beyond a certain spec.

The way around this is to delete the joy1 x/y values in the
Dark.cfg file in the Dark/Priv2 directory then restart
Priv 2.

Select the joystick/throttle etc in options but don't calibrate, then exit Priv 2 and open the config file, Note the cx and cy values then change your xl/yl values to zero and your xr value to double your cx value and your yr value
to double your cy value.

You can try to calibate your throttle in Priv 2 if you have one as mine wasn't a problem but never attempt to recalibrate your joystick as it will stuff the values.

My joystick was unusable until I did this.

Hope this helps.

Greg.

Ok I tried it but I'm not too sure on what you meant when you change the axis around but here is what my setting showed, I did not calibrate it like you said:

Again, note the joystick was not calibrated...I left it the way it is.

Joy 1
Joy Dead 0.062500
Joy cx 518
Joy cy 481
Joy lx 516
Joy ly 479
Joy rx 520
Joy ry 483

Now what are the numbers I am supposed to change to? I dont know if my numbers are similar to what you had before you got it to work, but thx for helping

Joy 1
Joy Dead 0.062500
Joy cx 518 (this is the centre value so leave it as is)
Joy cy 481 (this is the centre value so leave it as is)
Joy lx 516 (change this to zero)
Joy ly 479 (change this to zero)
Joy rx 520 (this needs to be double your cx value IE: 1036)
Joy ry 483 (this needs to be double your cy value IE: 962)

Hope this helps.

Greg.
