The Sanski Thing

Well... if what you meant to say is that Admiral Wilford from the movie can't be the same from other WC novels and WC4, then I have to point out that there's no Admiral Wilford in the WC movie...:)

Ack! More confusion!

Nice walking cheeseburger.

Not really...Wilford was a captain at his height in Confed. He was trained in a Border Worlds exchange program. He was made a rear admiral in the BW Navy when the war ended...his Confed commission was reactivated when he took command of the Midway.

What trained in a Border Worlds exchange program? There wasnt even a Border Worlds til the end of the war. He was always in Confed until the war ended and he retired. Then the thing in the Border Worlds took place and he joined the Militia and was made an Admiral. Later he came back to Confed as Captain of the Midway.

Hhhmmmmm. It's interesting that all the WC4 characters still hold the same ranks in WC:P that they did in WC4. Wilford is still a Captain (as he was in Confed), Hawk and Dekker are both still Colonels, Maniac is still a Major, Blair is still an 07 (though a Commodore in the Navy rather than a Brigadier General in the Space Force.) I guess promotion is pretty slow in the peace time fleet.

Best, Raptor

LOAF...please rid me of the sight of that EVIL cheeseburger thing?!!!

Robble robble! Death from above! Robble!

It's not evil, it's hungry.

Wilford is a Confed Captain (O-6), and a Rear Admiral (he was actually a brevet Vice Admiral during the two week conflict...) in the Border Worlds Naval Reserve -- he was allowed to transfer under the Border Worlds Military Exchange Program. Hawk transferred over because Wilford was his direct CO at the time. Dekker's transfer was independant of those two.

Im guessing that Confed wasnt exactly big on sponsoring the Border Worlds Military Exchange Program. "We're gonna be at war in two weeks but take our officers anyway" :) Basically it was the BW accepting transfer into their military at the rank they had in Confed (or in Wilford's case a promotion too)?

Wha? No, the BWMEP was *after* WCIV... Confed created it to try and keep good relations with the BW navy.

Wilford retired from Confed, moved to the Border Worlds, and accepted a post as Admiral because they asked him to...

Ah, no that makes sense. Also the Hawk being under his command thing too. How did people like Hawk and Dekker go from being in Confed to the Border Worlds? IIRC Hawk had lost his training squad but he was still with Confed.

After the training squadron incident, Hawk retired -- and became a mercenary, who was hired by the Border Worlds.

Dekker was no longer an active Confed officer when he was liberated from a POW camp -- he became a mercenary, but didn't like the worl... he ended up responding to the Border Worlds need for trained soldiers in '73.
