The Sanski Thing

LeHah

212 Squadron - "The Old Man's Eyes And Ears"
Whats the offical byline on Sanski's character in the WC universe? He disappeared from the movie, but they leave the traitor sub-plot in the novelization. Which is the "real" one?

Same question applies to The Admiral Wilson Subject as well.

The scenes show in the movie don't prevent the traitor sublots from happening -- they just don't show it. Thus, the book is the 'official' complete story.

(Sansky was wounded in both the movie and in the book -- in the movie you just don't see him again...)

Ok, I haven't read the novelization, so I must have missed this part in the movie. But when does this whole traitor thing show up?

Towards the beginning of the movie, there would have been scenes of Wilson talking with the Kilrathi...

Dumb question. Was Admiral Wilson the commander of Pegasus? And secondly, how does Sansky play into that plot?

I wonder if they just edited the traitor part out of the movie because in the official movie magazine it has the pilgrim traitor (Who really is sansky) plot in it.

I'm pretty sure much of the traitor subplot was filmed. I wished they had kept it in, personally. That'd have been awesome to see that knife fight between Gerald and Blair.

Greywolf: Wilson (who's like over a hundred years old for some reason... don't ask ;)) was the C.O. of Pegasus Station. He allowed the Cats to steal the Nav Com and then escaped Pegasus' demise and worked in league with Sanski (either a Pilgrim sympathizer or a Pilgrim himself) to deliver the Nav Com coordinates to Adm. Bokoth's fleet. Luckily, Blair and Paladin got the coordinates and he was able to deliver them to Adm. Tolwyn in Sol.

I think that's right. LOAF?

Maybe there's a faint hope that you will. James Cameron got the ability to go back and make a "special edition" version of The Abyss . That was a version , not a directors cut, that included many of the cut subplots, and deleted scenes. They replaced them into the movie, finished some of the special effects and even redid some of the music so that the "new" scenes wouldn't just look like old scenes cut into a finished movie (unlike in the independence day special edition where the music actualy is cut and then starts again after the scene ends). They were scenes the director would have liked in the movie but he... he cut them to shorten to movie and save money.

Maybe someday when, Or if, Chris Roberts gets bags of money he'll go back and recut the movie to include the deleted scenes. They'll alter the kilrathi with some cg effects or something to make them look better and there'll be more nifty music for the soundtrack. Well all be happy and maybe the criticts will even like that version better.
(in the way they definitely liked the director cut of blade runner over the original theatrical release. I've seen both and the studio induced voice over still has me cringing!)

It's certainly a nice thought, but given the poor ticket sales and critic reviews of WCM, I don't see many studios willing to invest the money needed to make a special version.

Best, Raptor

Well, I'm sorry for the misspell LOAD...uh, LOAF...

The Admiral Wilson from the movie can't be the same from other WC novels and WC4! He died in the movie! >.<

Oops. Sansky. Right. :)

Uh, who ya thinking about, LeHah? Richards (not in WC4)? Wilford (not in novels, except for the WC4 one)?

Who was the BW Admiral who Blair took his orders from in WC IV? That might be the guy who LeHah is thinking about.

Yup Wilford was Blairs BW CO in WCIV. It says in many places that after the BW Conflict Wilford tranfered back to the Confed Navy, much like Blair, and the rest of the BW Defectors did.

Yep, I meant to say Willford, d'oh!

Sorry for the confusion. Apparently Fighting Kilrathi for so long is giving me Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. :)

Well... if what you meant to say is that Admiral Wilford from the movie can't be the same from other WC novels and WC4, then I have to point out that there's no Admiral Wilford in the WC movie...:)
