TCS Concordia

Seventh Part of the Seal
Phew... been so long since I've been here. But I'm happy to say I've caught up with the WC Replay, but doing so has made me think...

I know what my reasons were, but why does everyone seem to like the Concordia so much?

For a Dreadnought it always appeared like she was on the run, the PTC cannon was a flawed design, her flight deck was heavily damaged at least three times in the series. Not to mention her lack of security have two spies on board almost all the time.

Well for me it's mostly because Wing Commander 2 is my favorite game. We can always blame Tolwyn for tactical errors, not the ship :p. The sabotage was something that was a bit out of their control until the traitor was revealed. Of course we all know in the real world the flight deck was just damaged all the time to up the drama for the player. Also when the PTC did work like it was supposed to, it was pretty awesome, and she made up for that weakness with her anti-matter guns anyway.

The heroics it was involved in during End Run and Fleet Action really stand out in my mind as well.

I like to think that a lesser ship with a lesser crew would have faltered far before the Concordia. It was a difficult time for the Confederation - I think the Concordia acquitted herself quite well.

Concy

I think she is by far one of the best looking ships in any sci-fi series. Like I've said before, imagine WC2 as an Anime movie or a Comic Series.. Good god that would make my life happier.

I have never liked the Concordia, which stems from my first encounter with it in Wing Commander 2. It didn't have the personality of the Tiger's Claw... or even a unique gameflow screen (hey, it's the base you were already at... but a different color!). And the crew was so unfriendly!

That said, I will acknowledge that you are *supposed* to like the Concordia. Wing Commander II's dialogue makes clear that Blair is enamoured with all the fancy stuff you guys like... and the novels definately use it as more of a hero ship.

Loaf? The Anti Concordia? I must admit I did not see that coming. I always knew you liked the Tigers Claw better, but didnt think you disliked the concordia. You're just full of surprises!

Good to see you again btw.
