SWC Ships

Its not the colors of the Excalibur thats the problem. It has the fins , the parts that stick up and down from the tail section, are on top of the ramscoops on the side of the cockpit fuselage.

That's... because it's a *painting* of an Excalibur.

It's not really two women... for some reason, it's the same woman twice (compare them).

Grakhi is one of the ships mentioned in End Run during an attack on the Tarawa.

Okay, I think you're nitpicking now, LOAF. In my book, when there are two women in a picture, even if they look similar enough to be the same woman twice, it's two of them. Which leaves the original question unanswered, namely, why are they there?

I don't think that there is a motive behind it. The artist just thought it would like nice. Or oerhaps they re-used an old picture. One of my Man-KzinWars novel has the same cover as "Pride of Chanur".
And why do you envy the German AS cover? It has a woman running down a corridor...

One must admit it is difficult to maintain a serious appearance when caught reading a book sporting a man with incredulous sexual prosthetics and two women on the cover... My friend actually thought I was reading a book by Anne MacCaffrey! *gag*

Personally, my favorite cover is FA... Since in the book Bondarevesky says to a reporter "Have You ever seen continents on fire?"... Well, he's about to. Up close and personal, all according to the cover, courtesy of Beefed Up Ralari, who are You kidding Inc.

Well, at least it has a VAGUE CONNECTION to the events in the story. You could interpret it as crew scrambling during MacAuliffe. I mean, the first time I saw the US cover to AS, I thought, "What the HELL!?!" Sorry, might've gotten carried away there...:)

I was in the SciFi bookstore in downtown Stockholm and I catually had to WAIT for my friend to leave before I bought it... and even then I sort of guiltily looked at the chick at the register (no, she's not a woman, she's lke 19 and wears skimpy clothes. Chick. Anyway.) like a guy buying a porno mag at Wal-Mart... *lol*

Aww, Action Stations' cover is perfectly tame -- the women are fully clothed and such. Actually, I don't think there are any really embarassing covers... except for maybe StarLancer. :)

(And yes, the *real* reason the artwork is so odd is because it's mostly just extra art they didn't have anything else to do with... especially the German covers).

Wait... you mean German covers are different than American one?
How come?
