Super Wing Commander ending

Hey, was wondering if anyone could tell me about the endings and cinimas for Super Wing Commander. I am interested to know what they are like compared to the original ones.

You mean in the same sense that, for example, Final Fantasy 6 can't be good because it was made for SNES? That's just silly. Commenting on something you don't know anything about is a risky maneuvre as well.

*Waits for someone who've played the game*

I've never played it, but I know that it's on Mac, so it can't be any good.

Yup, Super Wing Commander was ported to the Macintosh -- just like lots of other awful games (including Wing Commander III and Wing Commander IV).

Destroying the enemy starbase in the last mission triggers a cinematic of your fighter... destroying the enemy starbase in the last mission. Another wing shows up to escort you back to the Tiger's Claw, and you get short comments by any wingmen who have died (so, Bossman at the least, everyone at the most). Just "You did good, kid, I knew you'd make me proud" sorts of things (but individualized, of course).

I'm confused, LOAF. Do you mean that SWC is a port of WC1 that was done for the Mac, or that SWC itself existed on another platform (non-PC) and was then ported over to Mac?...

Reason I'm wonderin' is that I know that the graphix on SWC are superior to WC1 PC graphix (that is, less cartoony), and also there's some gameflow/mission fiction that is also a wee bit different also.

What say ye?...

SWC Mac is a port of SWC 3DO.

(Of course, it's also a port of WC1 -- but it's a *direct* port of SWC 3DO.)

Hmm, well, it's basically just to show that it's an enhanced version of the first Wing Commander (it was heavily promoted as such).

I also seem to recall that the genesis for SWC was as a title for the never-released SNES CD... hence the 'Super', a la 'Super Star Wars'.

Everything got Super stuck to its name back then.

I think you can blame Nintendo for that. At the time they were gods, and with Super Mario and their Super Nintendo system, a lot of games had the 'Super' part added, especially if they were sequels. Super 3D Baseball, Super 4WD: The Baja, Super Adventure Island, Super Adventure Island II, Super Air Diver, Super Air Diver 2 , Super Aleste, Super Alfred Chicken, Super Aoki Ookami to Shiroki Meshika: Genchou Hishi, Super Aquatic Games Starring the Aquabats, Super Back to the Future 2, Super Baken Ou '95, Super Baseball 2020, Super Baseball Simulator 1.000, Super Bases Loaded. Super Bases Loaded 2, Super Bases Loaded 3: License to Steal, Super Batter Up, Super Battleship,
Super Battletank, Super Battletank 2, Super Bazooka...get the picture yet?

Yeah. I highly doubt that if I were to list all the games I would be able to fit them in the one post. Plus the mods probably wouldn't like it.
