Spanish Movie Distributor On Wing Commander (January 3, 2008)

AD found some nifty things at the website of a Spanish distributor for the Wing Commander Movie. Lauren Films has a page includes background information, screenshots and a lengthy press dossier. This document includes a very thorough Spanish synopsis, stories about the production of the movie and cast/crew biographies. It was probably written in the first half of 1998, since it mentions fan sites such as the Wing Commander Home Sector at its last url before the CIC opened in August of that year. There are also a couple neat screenshots of the Spanish DVD, although they are unfortunately a bit blurry and low resolution. The impressive Spanish movie poster is present as well. You can find the site here.

However, Roberts conceived this film not only for devotees of computer game - they can discuss, and do, the appearance and atmosphere of the film compared to the game in numerous channels on the Internet -- by taking into account the images relating to props and characters that are already in circulation. "Wing Commander offers all the action, visual impacts, and provocative characters that millions of followers around the world look forward to" - as promised Roberts. "However, the film WING COMMANDER appeals to the masses because we have developed a completely new story, the people who go to the movies need not be familiar with or understand the game to enjoy the movie."

It's really neat seeing the spanish DVD menus. I wish the english DVD tried to be more like the computer readouts from in the movie. Also, FOX's barebones release is somewhat inexcusable. At least the CIC has the interviews that should have been onl the DVD online.

I've been looking around to see if any other distributors have anything interesting online. Most don't have much at all, so finding the extensive production dossier was a neat surprise. The way it's written I kind of wonder if there's an english version somewhere. This isn't the same as either the press kit or other material I've seen in magazines or online.

I have the Spanish DVD at home, I can grab some better screenshots of the menus if you really want them. The most impressive version is the Japanese release, which has an elaborate CGI Tiger's Claw hangar that it moves through.

That would be cool. I've never seen the Japanese menus in any form. I assume there's probably still some wierd language posters out there that we haven't seen either. The Korean one is pretty wierd. I think I've seen the japanese poster too which is a little odd as well if I'm remembering right.

I don't mean to drum up an old thread but I can't help but be curious since LOAF mentioned he owned it. Where exactly could I acquire the great Spanish DVD? I saw the trailer on youtube and was impressed by the dub, and since I'm natively bilingual I would love to own such an awesome DVD of Wing Commander.

But I google up a storm and all I find is torrents of the Spanish DVD and that doesn't help me at all. Is there any distributor within the U.S. from which I could acquire it? Or do I seriously have to wait until I visit Spain?
