Silly problem

Hi!

I have a problem that may appear silly to some (or most) of you and I, myself, am not sure if it's silly or not.
I just got all the Action figures from the Wing Commander movie. I got some of them two times and I opened those I had double. But I am not sure whether I should open the ones I have only once. I mean I don't want to play with them, I am past that age but I would surely want to have a nice look at them. But then I think that, e.g. most of those old Star Wars figures are only valauble, when they are still in their original condition. I don't think I want to sell my WC figures in the future, but what should I do? Leave them in their blisters unharmed for the next eons but neither seen or should I open the packages?
And I don't think I want to buy the other ones one more time, just to open them.
Mockery and real answers are welcome. :)

I dun think that the WCM figures will be worth squat in this or the next Millennia, since there's almost no interest. Still, I contradict myself, since I grabbed a Paladin figure and he's still in the box. ;)

Lets be honest you do want to play with them. What's the point of bying toys and not playing with them. But then again if you take them out of their box they'll become less valuable and something is ussually more beautiful when more valluable.
If the internal struggle is getting to much just do what I do flip a coin and do the opposite of what it indicates. I won't let chance rule my life!

There's a Magic 8-ball website somewhere, I forget the link, maybe that will help...

I have a truckload of SW action figures, none of which are worth anything because they have all been well played with... So I say if You have any plans of growing up, don't open them. If You take pride in collecting toys at a more or less adult stage, then by all means do. I know which category I'm in :)

Any collectable item still in its factory wrappings should be left in that packaging. That is, if you want them to retain collectors value. Granted today, they may not be worth much more than what you paid for them, but 50 years from now, or even longer, they will be worth more, and they will be even more valuable if they are still in their factory packaging. Open the extras you have, leave the ones you only have one of alone!! You wont regret it, nor would your great grand children!

Simple answer.

If you're planning on selling them for vastly inflated prices on E-bay, leave them be. Otherwise, open them. :)

You do realise that by doing that, your decisions are still ruled by chance, right? :D Though you make the opposite decion to what the coin indicates, the fact that the coin is equally likely to come down either way means that the outcome is still random.

Leave them in their packaging.

For this advice, I charge 25% of the value you receive.

Trust me on this one ok mekt?

Yeah I know, but that's why I do it. The irony of it appeals to me.

Uh, not quite...as my sketchy memory of chemistry and physics indicates, some sub-atomic particles don't seem to be governed by quantum laws...

Besides, chance doesn't dictate a decision. And it's not worth dwelling on. If you seriously think that someone will buy them at a later date, then by all means, don't open them. If, however, you don't think that they will be valuable within the next 50 or so years and want to enjoy them now, here, then open them. It's your choice...just don't flip a coin.

By the way, coins are more likely to come up tails. The heads side weighs more. You want to minimize chance? Tell someone to pick a number, ANY number. Decide if you're picking odd or even. It's still chance, but there's the factor of the other person's preferences in numbers, which you don't know.

one of my friends uses big words that he doesn't understand to make himself sound intelligent. For example, we were doing a mock-trial, and I quote, "Objection! No STATUATORY evidence". I'm pretty sure he should of said "substantial", but hey... whatever floats your boat :)

I frequently use really big words, and a lot of people around me pick them up, so one day I used the word "seminephreous" and said it meant "mutually beneficial" to my friends, and low and behold, what is in the English paper two weeks later? *lol* My BS word!

Seminiferous, which has a similar pronounciation, means that the thing is connected in some way to semen production, or the production of some other type of seed.
