It's a common 'badass' type name, due to the nature of the original bird - it's been used for multiple missiles and a whole series of attack planes. It shows up in science fiction frequently, too - the big-deal first 'space fighter' analog in the Honor Harrington is the Shrike... and it's the name of the mysterious terror-creature that's at the heart of Dan Simmons' Hyperion novels.
