Scientific Properties of Durasteel

We don't *know* the properties of durasteel other than how it's rated comparative to other fictional metals and tungsten. Hence you can't say that it can't be compared perfectly to Tungsten... You're not basing your argument on any type of fact...

But excluding itself, tungsten cannot be perfectly compared to any other element, alloy, substance, or known material( in that way), so why should we believe that it could magically compare with durasteel as a ratio of this much to this much when it cannot compare with anything else in such a definite way.

That is not to say that the armors could not be compared. If you were only comparing strengths, boiling points and the like, then they could be compared, but taken as a whole, there are still to many variables to consider.

Except that we know tungsten *is* directly comparable to durasteel in magical damage point terms. You're not actually saying anything with any bearing on the conversation.

But since this is tungsten armor, the tungsten could have been chemichally altered or modified. I really do not think that the manufactures would simply slap on plain old tungsten without making it as effective as possible. But I guess it could be plain tungsten since it isn't really important. The important thing is that it provides the neccesary protection that a privateer needs to get the job done.

But "only an idiot would believe" that! :)

The value is that it gives us a *minimum* value, not that it gives us the specific definite value (whatever alloy they may or may not use is sure to provide more protection than pure tungsten).
